We were not greeted by a hostess, instead a woman marched towards us and stated "we cannot accommodate you" (a party of 4 at 8pm on a saturday night at a restaurant that does not take reservations). We anticipated a wait, but not such a cold reception. The folks down the road at the Old Log Inn were very pleasant & accommodating, and the next time we are in town that's where we will be!!

The food at Brunetto's is consistently good. This place is always packed, so make a reservation if you can., althought the policy seems to change often - sometimes reservations are accepted; other times, it's first-come-first-served. Even if you can't make a reservation, the food is worth waiting for. Portions are very generous. The $11 crabcake appetizer is more of a crab croquette than a traditional Maryland crabcake. It's huge and delicious, so you may want to split one as an appetizer, or just order it as your main meal. The $29 beef filet is equally good, as is the swordfish. The cuisine is mostly traditional American food. The wine selection is reasonably priced. There's no website, so you can't view the menu before going, but you'll enjoy it.

Showed after calling all day but to no avail; only would get their voicemail.

Hostess said it would be a 45 minute wait; turned into an hour. By the time we finally sat many entrees were gone as well as apps too. Table behind us told the waitress to have the chef swap some ingredients even.

Waitress was spot on and doing her best, but that hostess... She actually turned customers away by telling them they would not be seated in time and many selections were gone... She turns to us and gives us the same song and dance AFTER we waited for a half an hour already. She had no concern for customer service... Oh and the phone? She said she would pick it up and no one would be there... And surprisingly there were no phone calls the entire 2 hours we were there... But the hostess said there were no phone issues. Yeah...

First trip back to Brunettos since the chef busted his ankel(s?). We we'rent planning on going, but we saw the full parking lot and said, wow, why not? Reservations are a must. We had drink in the bar/lounge area, recently redecorated and very stylish, not the usual Adk motif. It was impressive.
After about 45 min ( we did not have a reserve) we sat down and the menu was a simple white sheet. By itself, it looks a bit skimpy, but then you realize the menu changes so often ( based upon the fresh fish) that there is no need for a heavy bound menu.

We started with good salads, calamari, caesar salad. Entrees that night include Hake, Salmon, Duck, and OssoBuco.

It was fresh, delicious and surprising. While many places in the ADK mountains claim to serve fresh fish, they usually fall short of the goal. Brunettos does not. Its the real deal. So, if you've had your fill of BBQ, burgers, steaks, and the other fare that you can cook on your own, try Brunettos.
