“Great Beach”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Really enjoyed alot of time at beach this year. You dont even really feel like your in NY. Nice getaway especially after Labor Day.
Quiet evenings. Also peacful scenery to ride motorcycle. Very Enjoyable.
Too many restrictions on times, bicycles etc.

“My childhood beach, but glad I went end of September”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Still beautiful waves and soft sand, still a beach to walk for miles, still a lovely boardwalk, but from what I gather, the crowds and garbage are awful on summer weekends. We spent hours walking on the beach, feet in the water and reminiscing of my many childhood and young adult hours spent at Jones Beach. I've been to beaches all over the world and hope that Jones Beach can be preserved for the wonderful place that it was. There wasn't a parking fee during the week at the end of September. All the concessions were closed, but there was a "comfort station" open.

A friend of mine suggested to spend few hours on this beach located in southern Nassau County, in the hamlet of Wantagh, Long Island, New York. We went to field 6 and found it absolutely clean and charming. Children, men and women, all were enjoying at the beach.

We could see activities like fishing, sea shell collecting, metal detecting, sailing, or simply wadding in the sea. The water is moderately cold and pleasant. Swimming is not permitted. eatables and rest rooms are available. lot of parking space is there which remains almost full.

Nearby the beach an open air theater is there , and several concerts take place here. A perfect holiday spend with children.

“Suggestion for taking the kids during off-season”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

This state park is awesome during the hot-weather months, but also offers a lot during the rest of the year. On a recent day when the schools were closed for religious observance, I took my grandkids. We went to the fishing peers, and explored the path at the left of the parking lot. A short walk brought us to a deserted beach. We couldn't go swimming, even if the water wasn't so cold, but we had an enjoyable time collecting shells and stones, examining the various dead sea creatures that had washed ashore, watching the antics of the seagulls, building sand castles, etc. We all had an enjoyable, educational (and free) visit. I hope to return after a winter snowfall. If you do go with kids, bring along a pail or bag for each of them to do their own collecting. Also, wear shoes at all times; there can be pieces of "sea glass" lying around.
