Owner description: The new Seneca Art & Culture Center is an interactive, interpretive facility at Ganondagan telling the story of the Seneca and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) contributions to art, culture and society for more than 2,000 years to the present day. The gift shop features beautiful Seneca and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) art, jewelry, basketry, clothing, and our heirloom Iroquois White Corn products. A 17th-century bark longhouse replica (open May- Oct) reflects the life of the Seneca people who once lived here. Three marked ethno-botanical and historical trails invite you to walk and learn more about us. Heirloom gardens and fields of native grasses are contemporary reminders of the land's origins. Our festivals and special events share the culture of our people through dance, music, arts, sports, storytelling and other Iroquois traditions. Visit Ganondagan to discover the living culture and natural world of the Seneca people at their historic Town of Peace.

I remember going here for a field trip as a kid. Literally a :field trip". This place was a field. WIth some trees. And metal displays with designs on them. Oh how we loved to pull out some paper and would rub chalk or crayons over the relief.

The grounds was one of the largest encampments of our local native Americans in upstate NY. When there is something going on in is nice to visit and learn some history.

This location has been saved as a memorial to the Iriquois who lived here prior to and during the American Revolution. Exhibits are very well done, and docents are knowledgeable and helpful.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem almost by accident, but we were so impressed we intend to return next time we are in the area.
The site has a a beautifully built long house and a short video shows the process of the building of the long house several years ago. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about all things native american in our tour of the long house.
Different options allow you to hike longer or shorter depending on the time you want to spend at the site. The hiking trails are beautiful and offer meadows, forest and a beautiful stream to cool your feet in. The trails were almost deserted with quiet serenity, feeling like you can be lost in the woods forever. However, the trails are very well marked and easy to hike. It is a worthwhile visit while in the area.
