My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lodge at Turning Stone. We live on Long Island and make mid-week driving trips to Mohegan Sun or Atlantic City every few months. Turning Stone is was a bit more of a drive, but it was well worth it. The Lodge is an all-suite property, attached to the main hotel casino area by an enclosed walkway. The Lodge is peaceful and beautiful. It is tastefully decorated and the rooms are spacious and have great little extras like a balcony, separate bathtub, down comforters and pillows, free internet access, turndown service, daily newspaper, and a fireplace in some. (This was a highlight of our suite, viewable from the living room and the bedroom.) The staff was friendly, professional and unobtrusive. The casino is well-maintained and was sizable enough to keep us busy for 3 days. Table games are plentiful and start at $5 early and go up to $10 and $15 later in the day. We ate at the buffet and the 24 hour restaurant, and both were good quality at a reasonable price. The golf facilities look excellent, and we will return to this property to use them next spring. Did not use the new spa or workout/pool area, but they looked great, especially the pool, which had free-form stonework and flowing water. The spa had a good-sized menu of services, including a sweat lodge ceremony that could be booked 24 hours in advance.
As for pricing, this suite was less expensive than a standard room at Mohegan Sun for the same dates.

This hotel was perfect to stop on the way back from Canada.
Right off the Highway. Amd Relaxing

The room was exceptional. The staff was great.
Stayed in the lodge which was recently built. The room was magnificent. It was hard to leave the room. But there is a casino. The Casino was a bit smokey. The Casino was not crowded. Plenty of slot machines if you like them.

Would definitely recommend the Hotel/Casino.

OK, this is probably one of the nicest hotels North of NYC. The building is a modern lodge style, that could fit nicely in Colorado or Utah or of course the beloved Adirondacks. Everything about this place is five star except two big things, the staff and the location. The only word I can think of to describe the staff is amateurish. They are not indifferent, but just lacking in training perhaps? It seems to me this hotel would benefit by having their bellman, valets and front desk people get some proper hotel training. That said, it is a casino and more than other hotel properties, they care about profit, so I guess you take what you can get. The rooms are beautiful and surprisingly not that pricey, particularly if you travel here off season, (October through May). Comfortable beds, beautful bathrooms, and nice views for the most part.
Spend an hour relaxing and reading the complementary newspapers in the main rooms downstairs that over looks the golf course (and in Winter has a nice big fire place). Its too bad this special place is attached to a somewhat cheesy casino, (no alcohol, the casino itself is frequented by 18-21 year olds and lots of locals). I stay here from time to time on business, just because it is a great, comfortable elegant place (I usually do business in near by Syracuse).

One thing that will make this even more attractive is the Lodge Health club which I beleive is due to open Fall 06, (which according to the staff will be included in your room price). If in the area you will not be let down by the Lodge, but you might be let down by the staff or the casino.

The Lodge at Turing Stone seems to be attempting to provide an elite-type experience to their guests and they are falling a bit shy of being a truly exquisite hotel. The Lodge is a intriguing study in architecture. This relatively new building has blended together the sense of an old Adirondack lodge with the trendiness and modern art feel of a "boutique hotel"... service was good... room was beautiful (very nicely stocked snack and drink bar and nice rose petal turn-down service, excellent bed)... was upset when we discovered that contrary to what they advertised there were no flat-screen or plasma TVs in the room... this is awefully misleading - just regular old TVs... the main room downstairs is beautiful!... we got a suite with a hot-tub on the balcony... HUGE balcony over-looking golf course... beautiful hot-tub, but there were cigarette buts on the balcony!? Don't forget that the hotel does not serve alcohol but you can bring your own, including to the restaurant which was fantastic! as well was breakfast in bed
