“Nice alternative when Turning Stone rooms are too expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2012

Hotel is very clean and has nice rooms (standard hotel rooms but they are current). There is not a pleasant view like the Turning Stone Tower, but you are unlikely staying there for a view. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The property is located just outside of Turning Stone and provides a complimentary shuttle to the casino which is wonderful if you are planning to take in dinner and a show.

I stay here because it is smoke free. Business brings me to Turning Stone Casino 4-5 times a year. I stay here because there is no smoke at all. Not much noise late at night, unlike the casino. Very friendly staff, free cookies at night and a short walk to a near by sports bar. If you have to be in Verona and are not a big casino fan stay here.

Room Tip: Construction of the building seems to be stick built, wood, not concrete so sound from other rooms a...

Rooms were nice- small sitting area separated from sleeping area. Across the street from the casino, so it was fun to get away from business for a short while. Better than most Fairfield Inns. I'm staying again next week.

I had a one night stay here. To start, the hotel staff was excellent. I had some minor issues on my end (my fault) and they were very patient and accommodating. There was quite a bit of snow outside, but you couldn't tell from the cleanliness of the floors inside the hotel. The maintenance staff kept up with everything which was nice to see. The room was very clean, comfortable and the temperature about where I like it. Although I was near the side exit, noise was not an issue at all. Shuttle service was available in and about the local area until 10pm weekdays and Fri/Sat "almost" round the clock. There is a bar/restaurant next door as well as a Dunkin' Donuts and a casino pretty much across the street. There is easy access to the NYS Thruway about 1/4 mile away.

hotel was about 10percent full and asked to switch my reservation from 2 beds to king and was blown off without a blink-room was dusty and dirty-coffee maker should be in the trash, Ick! Unmentionable Stains on Both chairs-Website states there is a shuttle but there is no one to operate it. Front desk person was annoyed to see someone walk through the door- he wasn't wearing any name tag or identifying clothing so unable to identify-(would it have killed you to give me a King bed when you knew they were available and not gonna be sold?) Well first and last time there -

This was a hotel close to the store where we could get flatware made in the U.S. It is also across the road from a huge gambling casino. The exercise room has a few treadmills, an elliptical and free weights. There is also a small pool.
The hotel positives : nice room, supercomfortable beds, good ventilation in room, lovely complimentary breakfast with cooked oatmeal in a ovely eating area and friendly staff. No street noise except for a far off train.
The sole hotel negative: We checked in at three, the earliest check in time, and when we got to the room it was right next to the elevator. I immediately went back to the desk to ask for another room but I was told there was nothiing available. Hard for me to believe everyone had already checked in or asked for a specific room. As anticipated, I was awakened by the elevator humming by six the next morning.

Room Tip: When booking, ask for room away from elevator.

Stayed at this hotel for a work project for a number of weeks. The hotel is a bit of a nice surprise for its rural surroundings. There really isn't much of a choice in hotels in this area, other than the casino next door. There is a new La Quinta Inn going up a block away, but it was still under construction when I was here. Given the surroundings, this is probably the best hotel in the area. To be honest, the price is a bit of a surprise on the high side, given the surroundings, but the hotel is updated, clean and quiet, which is all that one can ask for when traveling for work!

Each room has a flat screen TV (I think 32 inches) with plenty of channels. HBO, and normal cable line-up. Wireless internet actually seems stronger in this hotel than in others I've stayed at. There are multiple access points to choose from. It seems they have 3 access points on the 1st and 2nd floors and you can pick the one with the strongest signal from where you are in the hotel. You can also use a wired connection with the cable provided in the closet.

Beds are great. Firm but yet soft. I get a good night's rest in these beds.

Some of the rooms are bigger than others. Most don't have a refrigerator, but the staff will put keep food for you in their refrigerator behind the front desk if you ask.

The staff is very friendly. Over the weeks, they got to know our team members by name.

Breakfast is simple with typical toast, muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, and the breakfast sandwiches that you microwave. Normal fare for a Fairfield Inn.

Workout room has the usual Lifetime Fitness equipment found in Marriott's these days. The workout room is a bit small with 2 treadmills and an elliptical and a few free weights. You can't fit much more in the room than that. Pool area is typical for a Fairfield, but no hot tub.

The Recovery Sports Bar next door is a typical sports bar offering wings, burgers, salads, etc. Typical sports bar with lots of TV's, Trivia night on Wednesdays. Other than the sports bar next door and the casino across the street, you have to drive a bit to get to stores as there's not much nearby. It's about a 10 minute drive to the Oneida area where there's a lot more restaurants and a theater. Utica/New Hartford is two toll stops down the road (15-20 minutes or so) where they have a mall and even more restaurants.

Only minor complaint is sometimes the walls seem a bit thin and one can hear conversations from other rooms. Usually though, the hotel is quiet throughout.

Overall, a great place to stay for what seems to be the middle of nowhere....Highly recommended.
