Owner description: The Wild Center is an 81-acre hands-on place to get all kinds of new perspectives on the wild world of the Adirondacks. It will include Wild Walk, a brand new trail across the treetops starting in the summer of 2015. The Wall Street Journal called The Wild Center "Glorious" in its review, and The New York Times called it "stunning". The Center has live animals, a wide screen theater, canoes, its own river, guides walks, tons of cutting-edge green building systems, and the only treetop walk in the Adirondacks.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase, Wheelchair access, Activities for young children

I went there with my wife and daughter and children 1 and 2 1/2. The resource room has lots of puzzles, puppets and visual activities to keep the children's attention. We spent about 2 1/2 hours at the center. The children were interested and enjoyed looking for fish, otters and other animals. We felt the video presentations in the theater might have not kept the very young children's interest so we did not view them. But I am sure the adults would have enjoyed them.
Lots of photo opportunities both inside and out. Remember not to shot the glass aquariums head on but shot at 45 deg or more. Your results might surprise you. I got some fabulous butterfly photos.
Looking to return again with just adults or older children. Excellent experience..

The Wild Center is a wonderful place to visit. Plan on spending at least 2 hours there, probably more. The otters will totally fascinate both young and old visitors. The exhibits with live fish are great too, especially the trout! Try to see at least one of the movies plus a naturalist talk, usually with a live animal, we got to see a fairly large snake yesterday, on previous visits we saw a porcupine. The trail down to the Raquette River is a nice short hike with several interpretive signs, very interesting.
There were three of us, all retired, and we totally enjoyed our visit, including a delicious lunch at the cafe, very good custom made sandwiches. There is also a very nice museum shop.
Definitely worth a visit!

While traveling in Colorado, of all places, we met a ranger at the environmental center in Vail that had worked at the Wild Center in Tupper Lack. Since we were heading to the Adirondacks in a few weeks, we promised to check it out. It was worth the visit! It is a very modern building with many eco-friendly amenities. A lovely pond is in the back that is graded so that you stand along the back windows and are at water level. There were a lot of hands-on exhibits and a few nature trails (with geocaches, so bring your GPS!). But the stars of the Wild Center are the otters. They have a lovely exhibit and were a joy to observe. Great cafe and gift shop as well. 5 stars, for sure.

So glad you made the trip, and found us. And we are sleuthing around to find out which one of our galaxy of former interns you ran into in Colorado so we can make sure we tell them that we are moved by their ongoing role at the Center, touching us from all the way out in Vail.

This great attraction is expanding every year. There is a lot to see, so plan on several hours there enjoying the displays and walking the trails. It's a nice experience for the kids too!

Your ticket gets you entrance for 2 consecutive days. It is a big plus as we did not have the chance to go through all the naturalist activities in our first day. The early morning canoe trip was nice. 20$ per canoe is reasonable and the naturalists did a good job in explaining everything. We saw lots of birds in the bird trail and around the bird blind. We enjoyed most of the daily activities and films. The museum itself is smaller than I thought, and they did not have too many live animals which disappointed us a bit. But all in all, for the price we paid, we got way more than what we expected.
