Owner description: The Wild Center is an 81-acre hands-on place to get all kinds of new perspectives on the wild world of the Adirondacks. It will include Wild Walk, a brand new trail across the treetops starting in the summer of 2015. The Wall Street Journal called The Wild Center "Glorious" in its review, and The New York Times called it "stunning". The Center has live animals, a wide screen theater, canoes, its own river, guides walks, tons of cutting-edge green building systems, and the only treetop walk in the Adirondacks.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Food available for purchase, Activities for young children, Bathroom facilities

We visited the Wild Centre with my elderly mother-in-law. She is very able bodied but must rest every now and then. While the place is not huge and the prices were a bit high, all the attractions are well done. We particularly enjoyed the large computer display of the earth (it is really cool but hard to explain) and all the information it contained. My next favorite was the otter tank. They are so much fun to watch. The place was not crowded and though we missed the snake encounter, they brought it out again for us. Staff is exceptional and friendly. We ate at the café there and the food is superb.

Thanks for taking the time to send this review. I forwarded it to the staff, and I agree that the Planet Adirondack is hard to describe. I think of it as a chance to sit out in space with a fun smart person who can get the planet to show you its story. My favorite part is watching the the northern and southern hemispheres "breathe" in Co2 and exhale Oxygen.

The Tupper Lake Wild Center is a world-class 'museum' - similar to the Smithsonian. You will not be disappointed with your visit there. The live fish and otter are very interesting to watch and learn about. There may also be other wildlife available for viewing while you are there. The Wild Center also offers many trails which you can take to view animal and plants which are indigenous to the Adirondacks. I wuld highly recommend.

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your time at The Wild Center. It is hard to reconcile your view with those of so many others who say that the staff interactions, exhibits, movies, live animals, free snowshoes, guided walks and hands-on experiences let them look at the trees and the rest of the wild world with new eyes. We too love a walk in the woods, and hope that you will come back sometime, and see whether a deep dive into what The Wild Center does can't make your walks a little richer and more filled with awe at what the wild world does every day.

New, modern, hands on is the only way to describe all of the displays/areas. We went on a cold Saturday afternoon in December. You can see skunks and snakes up close and personal(or not so much for me with the snake!) Planet earth amazes you with how were all connected, very techno! with very engaging staff. Beautiful otter area with waterfall and tank. Weather kept us in but there are 3 hiking trails and they will loan you snowshoes for free! Lots of places for kids to relax and just be kids. Had lunch in the Waterside Cafe. They serve food that is often locally grown.Yum, yum.....In summer there is a butterfly trail, bridges over ponds, canoe tours and a play area for kids. theater shows great films, one of them the highlights of the area. Gift shop with nicely made items.

Visited the Wild Center during Colubus Day weekend with my granddaughter who is 8 years old. Found the Center to be situated on a beautiful piece of property tucked away in the Adirondack Mountains. The Center had many interesting exhibits and offered a lot of hands on interaction within some of the displays. The otters were fun to watch and learn about and seeing some of the fish from the region was also very interesting. It was a great place to spend a few hours and my granddaughter totally enjoyed it!
