We were fortunate to be guests at the Halsey House for our elopement weekend! From our initial contact & throughout our entire stay, hosts David and David extended a level of service that was impeccable. Their attention to detail on all counts shone through wherever opportunities presented themselves. Accommodations were immaculate and lux. Breakfasts were both distinctive and delectable, as were all the unexpected nibbles that peppered our stay there. Our comfort and needs were the clear priority...and not to be minimized was how our gracious hosts made us feel like friends in their home by sharing stories, laughter, and bits of themselves while truly embracing us and our special event. We highly recommend a stay at the Halsey House and look forward to celebrating our first anniversary there!

This was our first wedding at Halsey House and we enjoyed it as much as the two of you and were honored to be a part of the ceremony as witnesses and photographers. We really enjoyed your last morning here when our other guests were able to meet you and celebrate your new union with you amidst much joy and laughter at the breakfast table. It is times like that which make the hospitality industry so much fun so thank you for choosing our home for your special time.

My husband and I needed a break after a stressful and busy start to the school year. Finding a bed and breakfast that had a two-person tub and a fireplace was challenging. After much searching, we found Halsey House. This bed and breakfast was amazing! We stayed in the Indulgence room, and everything about it was perfect, from the king-sized bed to the two-person jacuzzi tub to the delicious breakfast the next morning. I wanted to bring the whole room home with me! Our stay was too short. I was tempted to ask David and David if they were open for Thanksgiving week. =) We will definitely come back, maybe for our wedding anniversary in March. I would give this bed and breakfast a 10 out of 5 stars!

Room Tip: If you really want to indulge yourself, definitely stay in the Indulgence! It's the only room on...

What a time was had by all on Sunday morning as the elopement couple joined everyone for breakfast and the dining room was a buzz with laughter and new found friendships. The photo session was also fun and lets us know that everyone had a good night' sleep, a tasty breakfast and no desire to depart. We would love to see you again any time but we will make that anniversary special should you be able to leave the 3rd graders behind and just enjoy some "us time" with one another.

Looking back on all the many glowing reviews I would not disagree with the praise these two enterprising new owners have reaped. The old mansion is gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and the two owners charming and welcoming. One has to go all the way back to June 2012 to uncover an issue that is obviously not a problem for most people --- just the occasional light sleepers like my wife and I. The Inn sits unfortunately close to a busy road. Heavy traffic, including all night trucking, both ascending and descending the gully the Inn sits in, is an issue, particularly in the upper level front rooms. The issue is compounded by the presence of window air conditioners ( found in all upper level rooms and which should have been removed by the time we visited) as this in effect is the equivalent of leaving your window wide open all night. In the summer I guess the operating AC units drown out the road noise, but that would be a separate issue with us as we don't like chilled air blowing on us all night ( we do however like a little fresh air entering ). If you live downtown in a major city I guess there would be no issue here as you would be used to sleeping in a sealed and air conditioned environment. For us, used to peace and quiet at night ( and a little fresh air from a slightly opened window) this place was not a good choice. Other light sleepers should at least be aware.

Room Tip: The first floor room is the best/only choice for light sleepers as it is furthest away from the road...

We always want our guests to be happy with their stay at Halsey House. It is our home and we are very proud of it, so it is a pleasure to do all we can to make everyone comfortable. In our brief tenure as owners, we have not received complaints about the noise; indeed, most of our guests remark about how well they have slept. It is unfortunate that you were bothered by the traffic. When you indicated a desire for a quieter room, we did offer to move you to a room on the back of the house and away from the roadside but you declined that offer and decided to stay in the room on the front of the house closest to the road. We regret you chose not to accept our offer as we believe it would have made your stay more enjoyable. Despite it all, we did reimburse you for your second night's stay given your desire to leave a day early. We are hopeful that you were able to find other accommodations in the Finger Lakes more suitable to your needs.

Just returned from parents' weekend at Cornell. Couldn't have been happier with the Halsey House. The Davids are truly gifted hosts. Breakfasts were creative, beautifully presented and delicious. Much more like a fine restaurant than what you would expect from a bed and breakfast. Other reviews mention the beds and showers - excellent on both counts, on par with a top level hotel. We have already booked for next year.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful.

Thank you Ed, we do try to offer some breakfasts that one would not get at home and so glad that you enjoyed what we served. We are equally pleased with your plans to return as returning guests are a true indication that we are doing what we need to do and folks who arrived as guests eventually leave as friends. We look forward to your return.

We visited the Finger Lakes for two nights in Oct and everything at the Halsey House was wonderful. The hosts were very helpful. they greeted us as we pulled into the driveway and helped us with our bags, let us know of the many options for dining and excursions in the area. The breakfast both mornings was to die for! They have thought of everything and I would not hesitate to recommend the Halsey House to any of my friends or family. We are looking forward to returning again to the Finger Lakes and would definitely stay there again. The area itself is also beautiful with lots to see and do.

We have so enjoyed all of our Canadian guests and you were no exception. So glad you enjoyed some of the suggested dining establishments as well as the beauty of the Finger Lakes. When northern neighbors have sites like Niagara on the Lake and its activities and vineyards, we swell with pride when we learn that they had a great time down here. We feel very lucky to have had a small hand in your enjoyment and hope we will see you again.

We decided to join friends to the Finger Lakes and they choose the Halsey House. What a wonderful choice,my Husband and I just love the B&B. Dave and David were the most gracious innkeepers, keeping us informed of things we would love to do and exhibiting a wholehearted interest in our needs. They were tremendously helpful in guiding us to fabulous restaurants, key winery's and many other points of interest. Dave and David prepared daily a unique and magnificent breakfast with a striking table setting. The rooms were just as delightful, good space and extremely comfortable, I wish we could have extended our stay. Halsey House is a B&B that we will return perhaps next year, just enjoyed every moment. A big thanks to Dave and David.

Our first trip to the Finger Lakes was probably one of the least-planned vacations we have taken in recent years. That is until we arrived at the halsey house. My wife arrived first because she was already in NY for work. She was greeted by David and immediately texted me "we're going to have a great time this weekend." When I arrived shortly thereafter, I too was greeted by both David and David in their beautiful bed and breakfast and saw why she was so pleased with our choice.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and, although richly classic, are also modern and updated. We had the opportunity to stay in the Chamber room which was allegedly their smaller room for the house. We felt it was perfect- from the large closet to the beautiful restroom. We both slept extremely well in this cozy retreat. Breakfasts were delicious, unique, and thoughtful. Their coffee is hot, delicious, and bountiful. And their cookies- fantastic. All of us who stayed were equally as impressed with the food as we were with the comfort of this charming house. David and David were incredibly kind in providing us suggestions for different sites, wine tasting, and restaurants. They absolutely are top notch in their field because they have a passion for the area and for entertaining and pleasing theirs guests.
We WILL be back over the winter to see the beautiful sites coated in snow. We wholeheartedly recommend you make the Halsey House your next home base when navigating the gorgeous Cayuga and Seneca wine trails!
PS- try red newt winery, Americana winery, silver thread winery, McKenzie distillery, and Ithaca beer company in your tours. Also, hazelnut cafe was an incredible restaurant quite close to the Halsey House.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and cozy, but because the chamber was tucked in the rear of the house layout it...

Matt...the Davids thank you so very much for this gracious review and we do hope that when winter comes, you will find time to get away for a weekend of rest and relaxation here at Halsey House. It is the guests like you and your lovely wife who make this job so much fun; especially when we see the laptop get closed, the wine glass lifted and the stress disappear. When that happens, then we know we have done our job well. So glad you enjoyed your stay.
