If you are in the Ithaca area, don't miss this park. Parking was $7, which you can use at other state parks that day. The trail to the falls is an easy walk.

“Easy hike, spectacular feature”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

As others have said, an easy walk up the creek to a beautiful waterfall. You can choose to walk on the path in the shade or walk right along the stream on the rocky shelves. Nice lower falls near the parking lot, too, but they're definitely eclipsed by the main drop.

“HighesFalls East of the Mississippi River”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

At a thunderous drop of 215 feet in the spring, to quieter drops during the other three seasons on the average, Taughannock Falls is a sight that should not be missed. Whether you view the falls from the overlook or the top trail,or you hike in on the trail below, the view you get is vertically enormous. It dwarfs you looking up and emphasizes your smallness looking down. It falls in a natural amphitheater which makes it sound even louder. While the overlook gives a full birdseye view, the trails offer beautiful scenery on the way, making the long hike worthwhile. The seasons offer different looks, Summer has a less noisy stream of water and swimming in the lake (never swim in the creek or in the falls pool-very dangerous); fall offers a riot of color and sometimes a heavier fall of water, and winter creates fantastic ice forms and more difficult hiking. It's a must-see in the Finger Lakes. The Park offers swimming in the summer, plenty of space to play ball or just run, rental cabins that require reservations, and a boat ramp for lake access. There is a concession stand in the summer. Most locals have a Fall picture for each season.

“stunning falls”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

This is apparently the highest waterfall in NY. We've hiked from the bottom of the park to the falls, and also from the top of the falls around, but not to the bottom (although you can go all the way down if you want). It's stunning. Bring your camera. And, I suspect the best time is spring, when the runoff is at its peak.

“Unusual yet gorgeous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

The 3/4 mile walk to the falls was an easy, flat surface. Looking along the waterbed that the path winds with is impressive, oddly flat and beautiful. There are benches along the way should you need to stop and rest. Once the clearing opens to the falls, it's gorgeous and massively tall. We were even fortunate enough to see a male and female duck in the wading waters below the falls :)
