We recently spent a weekend at the Black Walnut. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jack was a great host, he made sure we were comfortable, made restaurant recommendations for us, and introduced us to our new favorite wine! It's conveniently located, close to both the Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake wineries. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom was huge. Breakfasts were great, a fritata casserole with sausages and hash browns one day and french toast done Savannah style with bacon the next. We are certainly headed back there the next time we stay in the Finger Lakes!

My husband and I stayed at the Black Walnut while in the area for a wedding. It is in a great location, near wineries, a cidery, state park with nice walking trails, and not too far from Ithaca. Breakfast each day was amazing and Jack, the Innkeeper, was a great source of information for places to visit and restaurants to check out while we were there. The room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved the Black Walnut! Such a warm and welcoming place and the Innkeeper, Jack, could not have been more hospitable. The breakfasts were also outstanding and the location was perfect, in such close proximity to beautiful state parks, wineries, and Cayuga Lake. Jack was extremely helpful and provided us with a lot of great information about the surrounding area. We will definitely stay here again if ever back in the Finger Lakes region.

Last year our experience was so good that we came back for a second visit and were thoroughly happy with everything about our stay. Same wonderful hospitality, great breakfasts (ahh, those waffles with blueberries, strawberries, and NY maple syrup) and best of all, an innkeeper who know how to take his cue from guests and be a great host. Covert/Interlaken is also a good location for everything from wine tours to good restaurants to waterfall and lake visits and of course, Ithaca. Thanks, Jack, Willie, and of course Ismir (the innkeeper's somewhat aloof and elegant cat)!
