This historic site is managed by a private foundation. They have a small group of re-enactors on site who do a great job presenting the life of a French colonial soldier circa 1764. The location and view are stunning. Worth a visit.

Enjoyed the fort and the King's Garden. Views spectacular. Lots to see. Spent 2.5-3 hours total. Had a picnic lunch. Lovely

Keep in mind, the Fort Ticonderoga you see today is the result of massive reconstruction efforts since the British blew it up i n 1780 in their retreat, and locals scavenged materials from it. Despite the high price of admission ($16+ per adult) it is worth a visit, especially in the fall I imagine, as the scenery is impressive, and reenactors do a splendid job bringing history to life. The collections in the barracks are quite extensive as well.

Brought my kids for their first visit to a fort. Even my 5 year old found this interesting and informative. The new visitor building had an art exhibition and an informational video. It was a good place to cool off too. We saw the music demo and the musket firing. I will go back again when the kids are older.
