“Tranquility, wine & food with outstanding service!”
Reviewed March 4, 2011

We stayed at the estate on the recommendation of our daughter & son-in-law. They raved about the service, peacefulness and beauty of the estate without a major travel time. We decided to stay at the estate for dinner, relaxation, views, and a massage to cap it off.

We arrived at the estate within a short time and could not believe how quick it was to get there. We pulled up to a beautiful, friendly, and an accommodating staff who greeted us. We were given a very lovely hotel room in the Atrium and it overlooked the mountains and Tapen Zee Bridge which looked beautiful!

We couldn't wait to have dinner at the Estate's famous Cellar 49 restaurant. We were greeted by great staff as well as servers. Our waiter was exceptional, he knew the menu and complimentary wines and his recommendations were spot on! My wife and I enjoyed the wine and his recommendation is now on our favorite list. We left full, satisfied and relaxed.

After dinner, we decided to enjoy the warm indoor pool, bubbly jacuzzi, and steamy sauna room which over looks the mountains. We stayed until closing time because we were so comfortable and lost track of time.

After a great night sleep in our room we went for the yummy breakfast that was served overlooking the mountains. Afterwards we went to the gym above the indoor pool and the views were once again hard to stop looking at. We completed our weekend with messages. My wife and I have messages all the time and have them on every vacation and I have to say, this was the best one we have had!

I will be going back every chance we get. An overnight getaway is all you need to get yourself to complete relaxation!

You won't be disappointed! I know we were skeptics before, and now we're believers!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with our myriad of fans on Trip Advisor. Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center is recognized as the nation’s first executive center and is comprised of 2 distinct eighteenth century mansions, 212 luxurious guest rooms including 10 period rooms in the King Mansion and a large variety of suites. With over 26 acres of gardens on the banks of the Hudson River it is hard to remember the Estate lies just 26 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. Our acclaimed Cellar 49 restaurant was recently restored and re-opened in the Biddle Mansion and features original Tavern fare including shared appetizers, Grilled Prime Angus Steaks and Fulton Market Seafood. All guest rooms have been restored and include custom new furniture, LCD Televisions, laptop safes, pillow top mattresses with hypo-allergenic comforter and extra pillows, I-Pod/CD Radios, Wolfgang Puck Estate Grown Coffees and complimentary WiFi. The estate is best known for its’ wide array of complimentary amenities including tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, basketball, volleyball, bocce, horseshoes and a 24 hour fitness center with free weights, cardio and Matrix strength training machines. Our proximity to the Lower Hudson Valley and area attractions like Washington Irving’s Sunnyside, Lyndhurst Castle, Philipsburg Manor and Kykuit including Blue Hill at Stone Barns are all within a 5 – 10 minute drive.

Although our estate encompasses 12 buildings on 26 acres; due to the age and architecture of the mansions and guest houses there are multiple walking paths and stair cases. We do have a large variety of guest rooms located just off the lobby for those with mobility challenges. In addition our Mary Duke Ballroom as well as many of our IACC approved conference rooms are all wheel-chair accessible.

We were delighted that you enjoyed your Atrium room as well as dinner and the wines in Cellar 49. The massages are a great way to unwind and “de-stress” oneself before heading back to work and our homes in New York.

Wishing you all the best as your travels take you throughout the world and hopefully back to our estate in the near future.

While running late to join over 180 collegues at the Conference Center due to a delayed flight into NY I was greated at the door with excellent service by a check in attendent who took my bags, checked me in, and instructed me on where to meet the rest of my group. This superior level of service never ended while at the Tarrytown Estate.

One of the things that I look for when traveling on business is an opportunity to relieve stress with a good workout. I was pleasently surprised by all of the great cardio and weight equipment they had and was able to get in a great meeting every morning before moving on to everything else the day would hold.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between was phenomenal. I am telling you right now I had the best Filet I have ever had at the Tarrytown Estate.

The staff at Tarrytown Estate is a perfect match for this picturesque castle. We were kings and queens for the 3 days my Company had the priveledge of staying.

My boyfriend and I visited from NYC for a getaway for a night. Like a past reviewer said, the walls are paper thin. We literally could hear the people in the next room talking (not screaming or being rowdy) all night. When their phone rang, we couldn't tell if it was theirs or ours. Unfortunately, the women next door must have been having a reunion of sorts as they were talking all night. At 4:30 in the morning, we made the call to leave the hotel and get back on the train to come back to the city. The hotel operator has not yet agreed to a full refund, but wanted to first give us a free night's stay (as if we would come back) and then a half off discount. Not impressive.

Now, clearly it is not an expensive hotel so the quality of furniture / carpets is to be expected. Very much Holiday Inn-level quality. It is also a massive hotel, which we had not fully realized from the website--it clearly operates as a conference center.

The real issue is that you will only be able to sleep if you happen to have empty rooms next to you or quiet neighbors...

Don't understand how this can be listed as a four star hotel given quality of the rooms. Rooms themselves are not terrible, but are basic simple rooms, say like you would find at a holiday inn. But the biggest problem was that the walls are paper thin - and I mean paper. Spent two days listening to guy in room next door talk on the phone - literally could hear every word. Went from annoying to a real problem, as the point of the trip was a gettaway and we wanted to sleep in but were woken up by noise early both mornings. Other problem is the hotel layout - it's a huge maze and to get from reception to our room you had to take stairs AND an elavator - was particularly a pain as we had to lug our bags up flights of stairs when leaving.

Service was friendly and the grounds are fairly nice - but the basic problem of accomodations makes this a no go for me.

My husband and I just returned from four days at the Tarrytown House Estates on the Hudson. It was our first winter trip to the Estates and it was a perfect winter location for relaxing and enjoying the President's Day Week-end. Our grandchildren from Larchmont visited us and we got to go swimming in the indoor pool with breathtaking views of the Estate and the Hudson. I introduced them to racketball, thanks to the great court. I just love this hotel. The staff are friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. We enjoyed a great meal on the grounds at Cellar 49 but also enjoyed local restaurants in Irvington and Tarrytown which are both a few minutes from the hotel. Thanks again for a great trip. The only thing we missed was using our cross country skis to explore the estate. There wasn't any snow until the day we left when it snowed about 6-8 inches. We enjoyed the view but had to get home. Maybe next year.

I recently stayed at Tarrytown House with colleagues for an event. From Sergio the bellmans warm welcome to the attentive staff in the restaurant and great atmosphere in the bar Tarrytown House did not disappoint. The setting is idyllic this time picture postcard with glistening snow, last time I visited in May 2010 also gorgeous in the Spring with everything starting to grow. The food is great - the breakfast and lunch buffet services particularly good with a variety of fresh and healthy food; and a dessert selection worth leaving with a few extra pounds for! Great food, great people and a magical setting! I would highly recommend the hotel for business or pleasure and look forward to returning soon...

My husband I stayed at Tarrytown House over Valentine's day-it was our 2nd stay in a year, and we regard it as our favorite in nyc, in regards to value, scenery, service, etc. We had a wonderful meal in Cellar 49, which is in the Biddle Mansion, with organic, local choices for food and wine. The 'House' is actually an estate with several buildings, off the beaten path in Tarrytown. We spent time in the very clean and serene indoor pool and hot-tub, even played a few rounds of raquetball! They have a large gym which is also clean and well-maintained. It is a wonderful, quiet place for couples with all the amenities, but also seems like a perfect place for a glamorous event, wedding, or even a corporate retreat. The mansion and buildings have photos and antiques of the former owners, and the decor is elegant. We noticed they are also eco-friendly and did not have that overpowering chemical 'hotel' odors or any other issues with maintenance. Our room and bed was very comfortable and quiet, and the staff, from check-in to bellhop to server were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back, for another relaxing get-away-thank you Tarrytown House!
