“Best getaway from the city!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

We stayed for a quick, one-night romantic getaway and what we got was so much more! We were greeted so warmly by the staff and our room was absolutely stunning- biggest, most comfy bed I've ever seen. We laid out and went into the pool and the jacuzzi, toured the scenic estate, and ate at Cellar 49 (yum!!). The staff was helpful in aiding us plan our excursions and were overall super friendly. We kayaked, toured Lyndhurst, had a great meal and drinks along the water, and visited the amazing Blue Hill farm. Our trip felt like way more than just one night! I suggest coming to Tarrytown and staying at this hotel- it truly makes the trip worth it.

This is an update to my review of a year ago. On that visit we stayed in a 2-room suite in the main complex with our daughter and baby grandson. This time we stayed for 5 days in a large, elegant, quietly luxurious room in the King House (aka King Mansion) by ourselves. All the good things I wrote about this beautiful property a year ago remain true, but I can now add that a stay in the King House is truly special. The only downside was that the room was so nice we were reluctant to leave it, so we were slower getting up and about than we otherwise would have been.
I can also add that Sergio is now the concierge of Tarrytown House and knows a lot about the many attractions and good restaurants in the area, as well as about specialty stores both local and in nearby communities. He steered us to an outstanding restaurant in Irvington (MP Taverna) we wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Sergio's friendliness, helpfulness, and polish add class to this already classy property.

Winning bid of 138 on priceline got us a beautiful room overlooking the Hudson River. A Kings mansion upgrade would be 200 more so we passed. Nice pool area with a beautiful scenic backdrop. Expensive pub there but it's at least a mile walk into town. No rdfridgerator in the room. A cab to nearby Tarrytown was nice. Ate at very authentic Mexicsn restaurant-Santa Fe. Shopped at a gourmet olive oil shop that lets you sample all the oils. Had a drink at very old bar called Horsefeathers.

We stayed here for a long weekend which included a tour of the Roosevelt Estate, which was beyond remarkable. We booked a stay in the Kings Mansion, which was uber pricey but an experience for sure. The rooms are all uniquely furnished to reflect the style of the mansion, adhering to the styles associated during the time the mansion was built. The grounds are beautiful, the sprawling hills are picture worthy and it is neatly tucked away from any hustle and bustle. There is the main hotel also, which we did not stay in but looked lovely. No matter where you stay on the grounds you have access to the pool and dining area also. We had a great buffet breakfast, so delish! You are near so many of the historic sites, all of which you should definitely explore. The hotel staff was very polite, the room was impeccable for cleanliness, great toiletries and very comfortable also. Unfortunately for me, I was reading the Mansion's history which was available in our room , stumbling upon a story of the apparition that roams the second floor, which is where we were; I had to fall asleep with the TV on. They probably should have left that out, my sleep would have been much better ;-).

We stayed at the Tarrytown House for one night and the service was excellent! From the front desk staff to the cleanliness of our room.

The breakfast selection was extensive not to mention the staff friendliness. Eveyone had a smile at all times!

I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is neither fantastic nor awful, but very decent and just fine. It's the location and the surrounding area that work to its advantage the most.
I liked the dining facilities, and the little games room in the restaurant. The slight disadvantage is the fact that elevators do not serve the entire hotel, and someone with a heavier suitcase might have a problem going up and down the stairs. But there's always bellstaff to help with that, if you were so inclined.
However, given the opportunity, I would stay there again.

Every year my family have our annual girls weekend away. We usually stay in manhattan but decided to leave the city. We found the Tarrytown House on trip advisor. We decided it was a perfect weekend get away. It was so close to Manhattan. When we checked in we were greeted warmly by Jen at the front desk. We were able check in a little early so went right to the pool. Although we weren't able to find 4 chairs together, the pool staff did their best to try to accommodate us. We met with Joe Howley, he was so personable and friendly. Once he heard that is was my moms birthday he wanted to offer us a drink to celebrate. We politely declined. However, he did comp us for breakfast the next day. He really tried to make this weekend special and he definitely did not disappoint. After a great night sleep breakfast was really good. Everyone at the hotel was very warm even the other guests who were regulars made us feel welcome. I am looking forward to taking my family back as it is a hidden gem 45 minutes away from the city.
