“Nice place for business and weddings”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Had a week long business training event here and really enjoyed my stay. The property is located on prime real estate with an outstanding view. Great for off site business gatherings to get your mind off of the day to day issues. The service was great and the food was also very nice.

My husband and I spend a long weekend at the Tarrytown House and found it lovely and relaxing. The property consists of two old mansions and a newer building with rooms. We were in the Atrium on the top floor- were given bad directions on how to get to our room and drug our luggage up three flights of stairs when it was not necessary. But the room was large, clean and have a beautiful view of the Hudson River. It was very quiet- I thought we were the only people around until I saw other guests in the hallway. Decoration is a bit dated but not worn- I think they are trying to decorate to the turn of the century when the mansions were built. The bed was super comfortable.

The property is large and lovely, sitting on a hill above the town with great views. Lovely outdoor pool (it was very crowded however) nice gym and indoor pool and hot tub, tennis court and bocci ball court. Staff was friendly and for the most part helpful.

We had drinks in The Cellar twice- both bartenders friendly and good, gladly turned on the hockey game, offered suggestions on local beer. We ate dinner there one night and the staff was very friendly, helpful and the food was very good. It is in the cellar of one mansion and is quiet, dark (not in a bad way) and cozy. The hostess treated us to a little history of the house.

Parking is not close to your room but they will help you with luggage. No valet parking (if this matters to you, it did to the woman checking in a head of me). The lobby in all the buildings had snacks, water and coffee during the day. The property and neighborhood is walkable (but hilly!) Two weddings while we were there - would be a lovely setting for one. It was a quick 15 minutes into White Plains if you wanted city. But the little villages along the Hudson are idyllic.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk far from your car, ask for a room in the building next to reception...

So close to the city and the sprawl of Westchester County, yet hidden in an oasis of quietude and rural beauty nestled among trees and rolling hills of green grass and beautifully kept gardens, you will find the Tarrytown House Estate and Conference Center. I was not there for a conference but for a friends wedding. First, the staff are friendly, professional efficient and just plain nice. They make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and clean. I did not eat at the restaurant, but others were quire impressed. I can say the food that was prepared and served for the wedding reception and inner was simply phenomenal, from the lamb chops to the shrimp from the cheeses to the prime rib everything was delicious, including the Crème brûlée. I did however have room service for diner, and my salad with grilled chicken was superb as were the homemade rolls and herb butter.I took advantage of the exercise room and whirlpool and it was all state of the art and the whirlpool was the right temperature and the water was clean. I really enjoyed the two days and nights I stayed ail be bringing my wife as I told her she would truly enjoy it.

We enjoyed our stay. Only difficulty was the parking but overall a good experience. Great night sleep, unique location. Highly recommend. We would stay again. We had dinner in Sleepy Hollow at the Bridge View Tavern. We had a nice experience over all.

Good for business, but would consider also for a family trip. Really beautiful place! Sorry to have to leave as soon as the conference ended, because the surroundings also look very nice. Could have better room cleaning procedures!
Perfect for a conference or seminar, and would consider if sometime arround Tarrytown!

Stay was fine. Checked in and walked to door to find keys didn't work, sigh. But bellman was quick and the remainder of stay uneventful. Fine for a quick weekend. Roomy but not fancy. Gym and tennis courts very nice

I would have given it five stars if it were not for the very dimly lit Cellar 49 restaurant. The food was very tasty, but we could not see what we were eating. The waiters provided us with flashlights, but we found it very challenging holding a knife, a fork, and a flashlight at the same time. A much better solution would have been to turn on the lights. Most chefs pride themselves on presentation, so we could not understand why this restaurant chose to hide presentation. We've been to the best restaurants in France and ALL of them are brightly lit, providing an atmosphere where food is the king, and not the dungeon atmosphere of Cellar 49. All we were missing were the sounds of chains and groans of medieval prisoners. Yak. But I must admit, the food was very tasty.
