“Perfect Stay”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Checked into hotel and received a friendly hello and fresh cookie with milk from the front desk staff person. Beautiful lobby. It had a feeling of being in the mountains. Room was very fresh looking and clean. Beautiful bathroom. Good pool with steam room in the men's bathroom - no whirlpool. Great workout room too with weights. Hotel is near the Tappan Zee bridge. Breakfast was delicious in a beautiful dining room. Wait service was very attentive. Restaurant also had outside sitting. Stay at this hotel if going to Tarrytown. Good hotel for a wedding.

My husband decided to take a last minute trip to Tarrytown so we literally booked the room the morning of our stay and we were still able to check in early. We only stayed for 1 night but it was wonderful. We were lucky enough to get a room with a "patio", which although small was lovely as it looked out on the courtyard, and since the weather was so nice it was an added bonus. The Hotel staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. the room was a typical hotel room but very clean and comfortable. Extremely convenient location to Tarrytown train station, and it's only 40 minutes into NYC. The best part of the stay was the bed, it was amazing.......so comfortable!!! My husband and I wanted to take it home! It did seem that the hotel had been updated but still a little attention was need. All in all it was wonderful.

We stayed here for a few days in May while visiting the Westchester area / NYC and would definitely stay here again. We arrived late so the warm, chocolate-chip cookies were a welcome treat! Our courtyard room was big - plenty of space for a couple + preschooler + crib - and we loved that we could let the little ones run around on the lawn in the morning and evening.

There's free parking (good) but you have to pay for WiFi (not good, but weirdly typical at higher-end hotels). There's also a free shuttle that will take you to the train station, local restaurants etc. which was brilliant.

Unfortunately, we were unable to use the swimming pool on our last day as there was a thunderstorm and they keep it closed for safety reasons. Our daughters were very disappointed as they had been looking forward to splashing around - it's a shame they can't put shutters over the offending windows for times like this. Also, at 11:30pm on our first night (just after we'd managed to settle the children) the fire alarm went off so we had to evacuate the room - we're fairly certain it was a false alarm and was related to the "sweet sixteen" party happening on the premises... an apology from the staff might have been nice - and it would have been good had a staff member gone around the perimeter of the hotel to let guests know when it was ok to go back in (we deduced this for ourselves).

Room Tip: They're a bit more expensive, but the rooms facing the courtyard / lawn enable you to open the F...

This hotel was in a convenient location for a short stay that we needed, so we booked it without a lot of consideration. That made it especially nice to find such a welcoming lobby, free parking, good breakfast buffet and helpful staff. Our room was comfortable and clean. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Tarrytown train station for easy access to NYC.

I stayed for one night on a business trip and had a fantastic experience with both the hotel and the staff.

The pros:

The staff was extremely friendly. Andre at the desk was efficient and helpful. I was able to check in early without charge, which was a huge relief as I had driven across the state and needed some rest.

The room was large, clean, and comfortable.

The location was close to several gas stations and restaurants.

Cons:

This is an older hotel and you can tell its been updated; but, I was at the end of a long hallway and needed to lug my bags up and down many sets of steps to get there. It's not a huge deal, I'm young; but, I would feel badly for my parents to have to do this.

Also, my room was extremely hot; I called the desk and they promptly sent someone in to look at my air conditioner. My wall unit thermostat was out of batteries and they quickly resolved the issue. This also isn't a big deal as it could happen at any hotel and it seemed like a "fluke-y" thing.

I would absolutely stay there again!

I just wanted to get away a short distance from the city. Tarrytown was perfect and so was the DoubleTree by Hilton. I had a nice( and clean) room with a patio looking out onto a courtyard. All in all, a very relaxing trip. Oh yeah...and the staff was friendly and helpful!

Room Tip: Select the patio or terrace room. It's so relaxing after along day to just sit and enjoy the cou...

Pros: Location! right off Tappan Zee Bridge, easy parking, beautiful lobby, friendly staff, comfortable bed, Crabtree and Evelyn tolietries, Keurig coffee maker, room service was super fast and food was tasty

Cons: Tiny bathroom - way too small for such a hotel, multiple stains on carpet gave room a dirty feel, welcome cookie had nuts (I'm allergic) with no warning from front desk

Overall - very nice hotel but not any nicer than other hotels of the same caliber, in fact, slightly worse.
