“Lovely hospitality, great place for a break”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

My husband and I went up to Tannersville from New York for a couple of nights on honeymoon to rest and recuperate after our wedding. Amy Lyn and John went out of their way for us! I could not complement them enough on their exceptional customer service. Tannerville is a lovely quaint little village with great views of Hunter Valley too. Hotel Mountain Brook was adorable, such a relaxing place to spend some time. The rooms are Adirondack style like the Lodge and are spacious and really lovely. The breakfast is AMAZING!! I had read the rest of the complementary reviews and was not disappointed, the breakfast would keep you going until dinner! The french toast and pancakes were particularly yum, as were the cinnamon rolls, freshly baked muffins, etc. A big range of breakfast items. There were snacks there for guests throughout the day too - a colourful fruit basket, biscuits, hot chocolate, teas, minerals.

I was a little sick on one of the days and Amy brought some hot port and little sandwiches and treats up to the room for us - such a sweet surprise. The welcome at Hotel Mountain Brook is one of the best we have experienced. Thanks Amy and John - keep up the great work!

The owners here, Amy and John, were simply amazing. The location and rooms were perfect. We had a delicious breakfast every morning and were able to find enough places to eat, even in the off-season.

There's excellent hiking nearby, which is all we wanted to do. There are some shops in town, but again, we visited in the off-season so there weren't many places open.

The style of the rooms and lodge are rustic - I think the pictures on their website are very accurate, as is calling the rooms "cabins." I read a couple of the 1-star reviews and was completely SHOCKED. One reviewer complained about the lack people at reception... really? It's a small resort - there are not guests wandering around all the time, nor do people walk in off the street. There's absolutely no need to have someone sitting there 24/7. They know when guest are arriving with reservations and guess what... they are right there waiting for you.

Plus... the sign on the desk has Amy's cell phone. Perhaps if you're looking for constant attention, this is not the right place for you. We went for rest and relaxation - a break from the city and that is exactly what we got. It was perfect - we even decided to extend our trip while we were there.

I would recommend the Hotel Mountain Brook for anyone visiting this area.

The friendly staff set the tone the minute we walked in the door - wait, they even called ahead to welcome us. Our room was a dream - a mix of country antiques, a really comfortable bed, pretty rugs on the floor, even an oil painting over the (working) fireplace. Breakfast was extravagantly good - we will definitely be returning!

Room Tip: The Olana room, an homage to the Hudson River painter Frederick Church, was lovely. The private cott...

From the moment I made the reservation to the moment I left I was treated great. The room was spacious with a fireplace and flat screen with a nice view of the mountain. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, and all the owners/ employees were very helpful with everything we needed.

My family of five came to mountain brook this weekend with another family. We were treated so amazing. The owner is super friendly and was very accommodating to all our needs. The rooms were very clean and so cozy. The best part of the stay was their delicious breakfast. I've never eaten pancakes that we so fluffy and had a perfect crunch. The eggs were five star and the bacon was perfect. There were cute little fruit cups given and fresh coffee, juice, milk. You leave ther feeling like you ate a five star breakfast. The great thing is just the way they make you feel there. No one bothers you and you feel like you're home. We sat in the lobby at night and had wine and it was lovely.. Our kids loved it just as much. They give you unlimited water bottles and snacks and there are free DVDs you can watch in your room. If you want a cozy place to stay with an amazing breakfast then this is the place to come. Hotel Mountain Brook.....

Room Tip: The best rooms are the ones in the main lobby.

If you want to ski hunter and stay in a relaxing environment with good people, tasty food and a comfy bed then book this location. The family is great. The set up is enjoyable and rustic. The rooms and commom areas are well kept and inviting. I have a high standard and for this price I will surely be returning.

Room Tip: Get a mountain view if possible or stay in a cabin. Nice also.

We go every January and rent a Supreme Cabin. We wanted to do a private cottage but we figured we would save that for when we come back for Spring, since its too cold to use the private deck and seating. John and Amy are very kind and helpful, the breakfast is amazing, and the rooms are clean, quaint and cozy.

The only thing I'd address are the televisions are small and far from the bed so it's hard to see.

The town itself is real cute and we recommend the Mexican place for the food than the Last Chance Tavern for their amazing beer selection. We go the 3rd week in January every year and truly look forward to it especially after the holidays to unwind

We visited a few different towns for shopping and fresh produce so if any question arise feel free to contact me here or at DavidKlein911@yahoo.com
