“Delicious and wonderfil service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2006

As grad students, the Mission is a tad expensive, but it was WELL worth it! The food was delicious, fresh, and served very hot (temperature). Our waitress was wonderful. She was very attentive and courteous, and easy going. We had a tamale to start, which has pumpkin in it. Excellent, especially now in the fall. Then we tried the salsa sampler, which was so tasty! We had a chicken burrito and a chicken mole enchilada. The chicken was so tasty and tender! We also had their sangria, which was very delicious. I highly recommend the Mission.

“Poor customer service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2006

The Mission is located in a quaint old church in downtown Syracuse located on E. Jefferson. We had dined there once with a small party and enjoyed the food - which is prepared much like the mexican food you find in New Mexico (lots of chilis and spicy). It's not the best mexican/southwest food you'll ever have, but it's good for Syracuse. We decided to bring some friends to the restaurant for our second trip, and we made a reservation on a weekday night. (They only take reservations for parties of 7 or more). Upon arriving for our reservation, the staff seemed suprised to see us, and even argued that they "did not take reservations". Upon confering in the back room, they did admit that they had taken the reservation, but they had no seating available for a party of 7, and we were just "out of luck". No rain-check, no discount, nothing.

Needless to say that's not how you want to be treated as a customer, and definitely not how you want to introduce friends to a new restaurant. This type of customer service may not hurt a popular restaurant in its zenith, but we will not be going back and neither will our friends.

“Best Mexican in town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2006

Delicious, fresh, attractive and attentively prepared food in a beautiful setting. Chef-owned, so the food really is the main concern. Largely Mexican menu, but there are also offerings from elsewhere in Central and South America. Specials every night. Plenty of very tasty choices for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. Lots of atmosphere in a landmark Underground Railroad building close to Civic Center, OnCenter, Syracuse Stage. I've never had anything less than a delicious meal here. Smaller speedier lunch menu. A minor drawback - beer and wine only, no hard liquor (they're across the street from a church).

“Fantastic Food and Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2004

The Mission is where I take all my "out of town friends" to impress the he** out of them. With all the "chain" restaurants around, this renovated church is a pleasant surprise! Everyone is pleased with the service, food and the unique Margarita's - you've got try one - Its a "margarita without the bite"! (of Tequila) You can't beat a place that gets families on the the "early crowd" and gets well-dressed trend setters on the later crowd. Popular with locals for a downtown lunch - Yes, take your business clients here - it's great atmosphere and will not break the bank!
