“Saturday Night Prime Rib!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Love a Saturday night at Dominicks, one of our favorite restaurants in Syracuse. Huge portions! Definitely worth sharing. The Prime Rib and spaghetti and odd but excellent combination! They provide great value for the price. Service is always pleasant and atmosphere is cozy. Nice date night, casual and fun.

“Good Italian Food You'll Want to Try”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

You suspect you might be in for a treat when you pull up to the parking lot and it’s full. We pulled up to the unassuming restaurant that presents itself more like a diner but without the counter. There were several tables a few booths and the typical Italian restaurant pictures and décor, certainly nothing outstanding, but who cares, we were here to eat. A short wait in the bull pen and we were seated in a large dining room, full of patrons. While waiting I notices some local folks taking out pizza and an Italian bakery counter full of cannolis, pastries, cakes, pies and a local favorite black and white cookies that beckoned.
Dominick’s Italian Restaurant appears to be a favorite among the folks in Syracuse New York and after finishing dinner, there is no doubt why. After our large group was seated we were promptly assaulted by two wait staff that obviously know their business and were well equipped to keep our group happy. There were no complaints on the service as a matter of fact many in the group commented that these girls really hustle. Drinks were served, orders were taken and the meal went off without a hitch. Our host had planned ahead for the group and there was a limited menu that met with everyone’s approval. There were baskets of fresh Italian mini loaves, crunchy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, a good salad with a mix of greens and fresh cherry tomatoes. For the main course, the specialty of the house prime rib, chicken marsala with wine sauce and mushrooms, an Italian platter, or broiled haddock. The prime rib was cooked just right and I heard many say, it’s the best they ever had, and that is a real compliment. The chicken marsala was two large pieces of filleted breasts with a light white wine sauce with shrums. The broiled haddock was a large piece of fish, light and golden brown, done just right. Finally the Italian platter, if you go to an Italian restaurant, you gotta eat Italian. A large plate came out piping hot with two meatballs, a piece of sausage that had been simmering in the sauce, ravioli, a good slice of lasagna and rigatoni all in a fresh tomato sauce that was flavorful and not acidic. Most of the entrees were served with a side of pasta of one’s choice. The only down side was there was so much food, it was tough to finish, the good side was there the portions were generous and the prices reasonable. If you were a local, you could walk out with a good portion of leftovers to enjoy another day. The food was great, the service was on their game and the final test was to try some of the deserts from that enticing bakery counter. The chocolate covered cannolis had some of the best filling, smooth but not over sweet, I have ever had. Partner had the coconut creme pie which was also a nice smooth consistency, not over sweet with a just right crust. Again, no one in the group was disappointed. If you are in Syracuse for a visit, a conference or on game day, if you have a need for Italian food, don’t pass up Dominick’s on Burnet Avenue right off I-690. It doesn't disappoint.

“Prepare to eat”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

If you like Italian comfort food, are really hungry, or like leftovers Dominick's is the place. Located off a residential neighborhood this long standing establishment has served loyal followers for years. The pastas and veal dishes are great and enough for two people. I love Dominick's!

“Why do you think America is fat??? :)”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

Went with a friend who likes his food in bulk... His definition of a good restaurant is one where you have to take three doggy bags home. The portions here are huge -- enough pasta in one portion here to make 4 or 5 portions in Italy. The food isn't bad... It's actually not bad for an American bulk food restaurant. But i'd rather enjoy the flavor than marvel at the size of the full pasta plate. Inexpensive family size portions in a place where 2/3 of the people have been coming here for a while & need to hit the treadmill. bread and desserts were mediocre. Service is nothing more than ok.
