“Worth the wait”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

It is a small place, and the wait can be long, but it is worth it! There is a good variety of seafood, broiled, or fried. There are at least several daily specials. Portions are adequate, and are served with salad, side, and a loaf of bread with herbed butter. The bar is hopping all the time, and it can be a bit hard to hear, but the food is the main attraction!

“Best seafood place in Syracuse!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

We stop here every time we are in Syracuse. The restaurant is small, and sometimes there is a wait, but it is well worth the wait. The service is good and the food is always outstanding. My favorite is the linguine with clam sauce.

“Another wonderful visit...great specials!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

We ate at the Clam bar again last night, and had another wonderful dinner. Everyone at our table ate off the "Specials" menu, and the results really were special. I had a dish of shrimp and scallops that were served over a variety of different vegetable raviolis. The entire plate was bathes in a wonderful Mediterranean sauce that complimented both the seafood and the pasta...it was REALLY good.

Our waitress was super friendly, and walked us through the list of specials, even telling us which ones were almost sold out, so we could "reserve" a dish if we really wanted one.

We really enjoy this restaurant. It's ot overly fancy inside, and the price is right too. But if you want a quiter table where it is easier to talk, ask for one in the back room, instead of in the bar room.

I do recommend this place quite highly, and will go back in the future.

“Labor Day Weekend started Great at the Clam Bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Visited East Syracuse for the Labor Day weekend and visited the Clam Bar Friday night for dinner. Once again the place was packed with diners and we got our name on the waiting list with the hostess. This is not bad as we like to have a drink or two at the bar before getting seated. The bar area is cozy and friendly patrons make the visit an enjoyable experience--we even passed up a table to spend a little more time with the friendly locals. We were seated in a nice booth and enjoyed some clam appetizers, both raw and casino--delicious. We had the blackened grouper plates and were not disappointed as they were perfectly prepared. We really like this spot when we visit the area and are sure to return again.

“Don't judge a book by its cover!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

We recently stayed at a hotel nearby overnight because of an early morning flight out of SYR - the hotel attended suggested this place for dinner - the shuttle brought us over - had we taken our car - we would have kept going. The place was packed for happy hour on a Friday night - that being said we waited about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth every minute. The place is rowdy with locals, you know when a place is this packed and people have ordered a drink and leave with large take out orders the food must be good! We had a clam chowder that was one of the best ever, better than some recently enjoyed in Maine and New Hampshire, the fish sandwich was to die for, so big that I could not eat the whole thing. The waiters and barmaids/men are pleasant and service is excellent. In our future trips to Syracuse this establishment will be a definite stop! The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.
