“Perfect for families”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

I remember coming here as a child, fascinated by the mini-plays going on on special nights. There's so much to look at. Memorabilia is oozing out of this place, but the place is huge, so it's not really overwhelming. Who doesn't want to eat inside of an old dining car? No, this is not high class dining. No, the head chef probably did not study abroad in Italia. However, most people are not used to truly expensive tastes anyways and will probably be perfectly happy with this eatery. The atmosphere is fun and light-hearted. The service is typically great. The price is good in my opinion, as the portions are definitely not small. I think I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

“Good food, about what you would expect”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

This restaurant is in an old industrial building which has a lot of character. There is a ton of seating and a unique train car in one of the dining rooms, but most of the dining rooms are lit up as bright as a baseball stadium which takes away from some of the dining experience. Our food was good. About what you would expect but it was flavorful and despite the fact that we are foodies, there was none left to take home so it must have been pretty good. Our server was actually, very, very good. There are a fair number of large groups celebrating kids birthdays or just woofing down their food, so if you are looking for a quaint experience, this isnt it. Will definately return with the kids again.

“Informal atmosphere, good food, moderate prices”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

SW serves good, basic Italian food in ample portions. If you are looking for gourmet quality, imaginative dishes, with sophisticated presentation, this isn't the place. If you are looking for an intimate, romantic setting, this is definitely not the place. But if you want a place that is family friendly and which won't bust your budget, this is a good choice. My favorites are the wedding soup and the lasagna, and the chicken parm is pretty good, too.

A few helpful tips:
First, anticipate that if you go during a busy period, you are likely to find no room in the parking lot. This is an inconvenience that many people consider minor, as there is parking on the street, though on a particularly busy day you may have to walk about a block. However, if anyone in your party has mobility limitations the inconvenience is not so minor, especially in bad weather, as the entrance to SW is at the bottom of a moderately steep ramp, forcing a choice between the ramp and a staircase. You can avoid both for those for whom these are an issue by dropping them off at the door, and then driving to find a parking spot. Be careful not to park in the small reserved lot at street level, as it is for building residents only, not SW customers.

Second, be aware that the tables and chairs in the dining area are an eclectic mix of old stuff that SW seems to have obtained from Sanford & Son. Don't be surprised to find that you are seated in an old trolley car, or in a old fashioned four-post bed, or some other odd setting. This gives the place a fun, unique character, but it also means that some of the chairs are beat up and uncomfortable. No big deal, as you can swap for another that is not in use at another table. The staff will help with this if necessary, so ask if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

“great Italian food at very reasonable prices and service is outstanding”

the lasagna is my favorite choice and the attention and service always add to a delicious meal. The restaurant manager even stops by to see if everything was good with your dining experience.
