Great value. Great entertainment. Gem of Syracuse for anyone with kids. Take in an Omni movie shown on the domed roof or climb in a 4-story high gym chasing your kids. Tiring but refreshing.

Nice little science museum. Some exhibits are antiquated. Giant 3 story climbing ball house. IMAX movie theatre is ok. For a day with the kids, its good. We go maybe every few years.

Too much of this museum wasn't working properly and for a science attraction, that's unfortunate. For example, a "test your reflexes" display where you compete with a friend won't work if only one of the controls has the button intact. Another exhibit illustrating a device that pre-dated motion pictures didn't have its lights working and a wind tunnel exhibit was not functioning either. On the other hand, there were some really fun things. People who love model train sets will enjoy the museum and their "animatronic" exhibit of Pleistocene mammals like smilodons and wooly mammoths as well as the apex predator bird, diatryma. Aviation exhibits including an interactive air traffic control "game" were also fun.

We live near Syracuse, and have two young boys (6 and 4). We have a family pass to the MOST, and go on a somewhat regular basis. For a city the size of Syracuse, it is a super impressive "attraction"... There are literally hundreds of things (big and small) for kids and adults to do. The super large indoor Playscape (three stories+ high) is always a winner, and the traveling exhibits that visit (i.e. "Dinomania" and the animatronic "Ice Age" creatures) are always a big hit. The IMAX Theatre doesn’t show Hollywood releases like some (they don't have the right projection equipment), but it is still impressive and relatively inexpensive. The only drawback to the MOST is that because of the delicate nature of some of the more electronic interactive exhibits (like the helicopter and F-15 flight simulators), some exhibits are frequently out of commission, and can lead to disappointed young 'uns.. (Otherwise I would have given it 5 "stars"). But, there's ample more fun stuff to keep kids occupied for hours... BTW - You can bring in your own food (i.e. a box lunch), so long as you eat it in the snack and drink vending machine area. Get there EARLY (10:00 AM - opening time) on weekends and non-school days and you'll have the place almost to yourself until about noon, then it starts getting packed... and noisy! But the place is great, and I highly recommend it to locals and visitors alike.
