I have been to Middle Ages several times. Nothing pretensious here. Small bar for about 8-10 people. Generous tastings and pleasant staff. Caught a tour the last time. Lots of good info there.

Very impressed by the generous portions at no cost. Things of note: there's a cat wandering around (including on the bar counter... yeah...); its very cut and dry (no 'storytelling' element to the tasting, at least on the day I visited); you can't sample a fair number of the beers they have for sale, and there are a few that are available for tasting that you can only take home in a growler. Overall a good experience, if you simply want to try some beers, buy some beer, and leave. Would recommend.

Excellent beer. Friendly staff. Samples are great. Only regret is you can't grab a pint after! My only suggestion is to go when it's isn't super crowded- I think it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

Middle Ages is one of my favorite beers and a must go on my trips to SU. Place smells just like a brewery should smell, good assortment of beers on tap for tasting, a friendly and knowledgeable staff. My opinion is the Wailing Wench is their signature beer, especially if you like a beer that bites you back a bit. If it's available, make sure you get a growler of the Double Wench but be advised, this one is not for the faint of heart. When you open it, make sure you have lots of company and be prepared for an enjoyable and relaxing evening cuz you're not going anywhere after a pint of double.

If you are a beer tasting fan like myself, then you must try this place out. Don't come here if you are looking for food, however. It's a basement-style bar setting, with no place to even sit down. You enter the building, turn left, walk downstairs to the bottom floor, and voila! A bar! That's it, however haha. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, however. They have plenty of beers on tap to try. I tasted a couple different ones, and liked them. I also bought a souvenir pint glass from here as well. I recommend stopping in, but don't expect something fancy!
