This is our third stay in so many years at the Jefferson Clinton. Syracuse is our half way stop on our annual summer visit to NYC. This is a terrific historic property in a perfect location near restaurants, bars and the business district. It is nicely updated with all modern amenities and kept fresh. Great pricing and the staff are always cheerful and accommodating. Parking and breakfast included! How can you beat that.

The PROs to the Jefferson Clinton Hotel are too numerous to mention them all. My husband and I just hosted a large wedding for our daughter with many out of town and in town guests at the stunning Landmark Theater one block from this hotel. Keep in mind this is a historic hotel with only 68 rooms total and I believe we had approximately 40 of them booked with our guests on May 30th and 31st. Every single one of our guests raved about the hotel. The rooms were well appointed, very spacious, and very, very, very clean with many little extra details visible throughout. Parking was NOT an issue. Yes they have a small lot for about 15 vehicles, but they also valet park... for Free, just ask! HOT Breakfast IS FREE... And I mean a real breakfast with an onsite chef preparing omlets. Breakfast buffet also included hot scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage, as well as yogurt and muffins and probably a couple of things I missed.

The staff welcomed all of our guests and answered any questions they had. They also put up with our very late night after party in the lobby. Basically they made us (my husband and I) feel like it was our own place to use to host our daughter & son-in-law's wedding guests. Guests loved the stuffed chairs and sofas in the lobby and the little tables and chairs outside in the beautiful weather. They were able to come and go around the Armory Square area without difficulty. Many things were within a very short walk. I know several who had to have their Starbucks fix around the corner.

The hotel block rate was very reasonable. Our experience at the Jeffersom Clinton for the weekend made it worth every penny. Victoria, thank you so very much for all you did and all you put up with from us while we planned the wedding.

Room Tip: Presidential suites are amazing!

I stayed here one night in May with my Mom, we came to Syracuse from Ottawa for a weekend shopping trip. It was our first time at the hotel and we were both left impressed. From the free valet parking to the excellent reception staff, and delicious made-to-order omelettes we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Fantastic location- tons of restaurants nearby for dinner and the Destiny USA mall is only a 5 minute drive away. Would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: We had a presidential suite on the 7th floor- it had a fantastic view, and an incredibly comfortable bed!

. . . said a Syracuse NY Lawyer when I told her where we were lodged.

Apparently this place was indeed, converted from low-income housing, to its present position as Syracuse’s flagship hotel.

Other Trip Advisor reviews already say it all. All I can add is this: management and staff should be hired by the VA and every other moribund government organization to convert their institutions to “patient-centered.” These folks have an *uncanny* ability to put themselves into the minds of the guests. Some examples:

Other hotels say, “if you need an amenity, ask us. Perhaps we have it.” It takes a lot of emotional energy to call the desk, ask for something (like a fingernail clipper,) and hear “no, sorry, we don’t have it.” [Once, in a NYC hotel when hearing “no’s” after each request, I asked, “well, what *do* you have?” The answer was “we have one toothbrush left!”] Here at the Jefferson, a sign says, “if we don’t have it, we’ll get it.” A two column list in the bathroom, shows what they *do* have!

Another example of guest-centrism: You pass a large shelf of DVDs in the Jefferson Clinton lobby, which by its presence alone automatically communicates, “we have free DVDs for you! Just grab one.” Then, instead of having to browse through the (extensive) library, you see a “New Release” list right there. Then, there is a sign right by the shelf that says, “remember to take some complimentary popcorn for your microwave.”

Yes, it is an old building, sensitively retrofitted. Preservation rules prevented changing the elevator shaft. So, if a single elevator bothers you, do what repeat guests do: get a room on the lower floors, get help with your luggage if necessary, and use the stairs. (You will need to work off that free-omelet-made-to-order breakfast anyway!)

A final example. We like to sleep late using the “do not disturb sign.” Hotels' housekeepers will often “forget us” and we are stuck with full trashcans and no towels. This time we asked housekeeping to skip us, let us sleep, and asked for just a change of towels. The housekeeper pointed out that another 2 days of linens were already in everyone’s lower dresser drawer, for this very eventuality!

Jefferson Clinton hotel is well located in Syracuse Downtown (Armory square, just the other side on the MOST museum). It is easy to find and the hotel has a small parking (not enough places for all rooms. If you check in late, you could have some problem...maybe the hotel has some options, a public parking (not free) just beside). The room (a suite with a king bed for us) has a kitchen, but only the minimum stuff for eating (not really has cooking accessories). No pool and no fitness center. A computer with internet is accessible in the hall, free wifi is functionnal and breakfast seems good (not use, but was free with our room). Employees were friendly.

Negative notes: a little bit expensive for this kind of hotel, but it is the price to be in downtown at Syracuse. Also, the street side of the room could be noisy, if something happens in the street. We heard noises from the street, event on the 10th floor...but during the night, the street was calm and nothing disturbed us.

Dear Aingell,

Thank you for staying with us and leaving a review. I am so sorry we didn't let you know about our amenities at check-in. We have more parking once our lot is full via our valet service. We also have a fitness center and lots of kitchen supplies that guests can borrow. We are happy you were able to enjoy a night without being disturbed. We hope you'll visit us again soon.

Warm Regards,
Jamie
