Crowne Plaza, Suffern
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Suffern
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 9, 2011

If you're young and doing business in the Rockland County area, like an active late night bar, good Wi-Fi, and don't care that much about noise or room accommodation, this is the place for you. Access to the NYS thruway is excellent and downtown Suffern has an excellent Italian, Spanish, and Mexican restaurant within five minutes from the hotel. They allow dogs. However, if you need quiet for sleeping, a bathtub, a serious workout facility, and attentive staff, then NO, this is not your hotel. Put up my brother, an out-of-town visitor here, and thought the rooms were just average, and the ones facing the Atrium must be impossible with convention/party noise. Would make a decent large wedding space. So, you see, 50/50.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep, request an outside - facing room. All suites face inside.

Thank you for choosing the Crowne Plaza Suffern for your brothers "home away from home" while in town and sharing his experience. Although the hotel is quite active I sincerely apologize for any uncontrollable noise issues. My owners and I are in the process of planning a hospitality area for late night guest furthur from the guestrooms which should resolve the issue.. Since all guestrooms have new European showers we are adding bathtubs to three guestrooms as of February 1st for those that request them. Again, my genuine "thank you" for choosing the Crowne Plaza Suffern.

COmmon area lounge/lobby is unbelievably loud in the evenings. Until at least 2 am people can be heard telling and partying in the common area. The music dj or bands from the banquet rooms also filter right in to your room. DO NOT Stay here if you are a lite sleeper and value a good nights sleep!

The Crowne Plaza Suffern team appreciates the feedback and sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience during your stay. Although most guestrooms do not face the interior lobby we try our best at controlling late evening noise. Our owners have been made aware of the issue and plans are being made to create a new sitting area furthur away from the interior guest rooms. Again, our sincere apology and thank you for your business.

This was a last minute decision to stay in Suffern overnight, and we were so pleased! I didnt expect the room to be so spacious or modern. The lobby was very airy and trendy, and the bar was great for a late night snack & a couple drinks. Very impressed by the room & bathroom though - very nice.

We stayed here in October while in the area for a Funeral and we had a wonderful surprise with the quality of the hotel, I got a great rate on Hotwire and was not thinking it would be as great as it was for the price. We wanted something on the Tarrytown side of the Tappenzee but price made it impossible and this was just a short drive over and the value and quality was worth it! The room was very clean and the memory foam bed was fantastic. Enjoyed the keurig in the room as an added bonus of a good cup of coffee while I got ready in the am. Sure to return!!!

I stayed here for a night with the main intention of shopping at the Woodbury Commons Outlets. It was a short 15mins drive from the outlets

At checkin, everything was handled professionally and swiftly. I was given only one welcome drink as a priority club member even though I checked in with my partner.
Bell boy helped to bring out luggages to our room and he was vey polite and chatty. We liked it.

At first impression, room was modernly decorated. It felt fresh and classy at the same time. This hotel as a whole has a good atmosphere.
Bed was very comfortable (king size)....bathroom size decent, no bathtub. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, both wash, shower cap provided.
I called housekeeping for toothbrushes and bedroom slippers and they brought them to me within 3 mins.

Requested for late checkout as a priority club member but was only granted til 1pm.

Large flat screen TV in room and free wifi. Gym and self service laundry are all 24 hours! Loved it! Free self parking.

We had a drink at the bar....service was mediocre. There was also a pool table where we had a few rounds of game.

All in all, happy with this stay and would surely return the next time I plan to shop at the woodbury commons.

Great public rooms, light bright and comfortable. Clean and comfortable rooms - loved the beds which were on the soft side- really dislike hard beds. Also like the shower with no shower curtain. Bar in a great location, love their Caesar salads - big enough for two.
Were there for about 8 days and had a couple of issues which were handled very professionally and quickly by the staff. Michael, the bellman always seemed to be around when we needed help with something and such a pleasure to work with -
Susan Hoffman in the restaurant gave us lots of great info re: the area and was always a pleasure to see and always remembered our names-
Patty Steinmetz , mgr of the bar and restaurant was so helpful and took good care of our needs-
Jill Revell - at the front desk - was a great help with getting us a great room and all the gals at the front desk were all very friendly and a great help with all printing needs-
Ike - the front desk Mgr - made sure we were always taken care of as well.
and last but not least Kevin Wooten, the general manager, runs a great hotel. We look forward to going back. If the hotel had one downfall, it would be the size of the sink in the bathroom. Small for two people.

Room Tip: We preferred the rooms that face the parking lot rather than the atrium - rooms -- in the 160 range...
