Hotel is new and rooms are "fresh" and clean. Location is very tricky to find even with a GPS! Had to call desk for directions in, but clerk was of little help! That was very frustrating coming in late at night in the dark after a long day of travel. Also, location is a bit remote unless you have business at Stony Brook University; there are no malls, shops or restaurants within a few miles.

5 Day stay....in Dec/January-Heating system very strange: Sometimes hot, sometimes cold. Could not get the system to deliver steady heat. Ceiling above toilet obvious that the toilet above had or was leaking: Yellow stain coming through ceiling. Beds were pretty soft, so if that's what you like, this is the place. Otherwise pretty nice hotel, good, convenient location. Fitness Center and indoor pool were nice.

If the cost for breakfast was included I would have absolutely not problems with this hotel. The staff was very helpful and polite. The room quality was perfect. All in all a very good trip just don't do the breakfast it's not included! The cost per person is $12.95!

We were delighted with our stay at this Hilton Garden Inn. The lobby was beautiful, as well as the room. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our children enjoyed the pool. We will definitely stay here again when in Long Island. My only concern was that the breakfast buffet was not fresh or tasty. We would probably get breakfast somewhere else if we stay here again.

Although we had a bit of trouble finding the hotel, once we got in,everything was excellent I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a long day of travel and ordered room service which arrived quickly and was better than expected!

We reserved two king suites at this hotel and found that the staff and facility were very impressive. It was quiet and comfortable. The only problem we encountered were the pull out beds. They were very uncomfortable. I imagine we could have asked for a cot- but we were to tired to do that. The staff was very accommodating, so I'm sure this can be fixed. The pool was also wonderful. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel very highly for anyone staying in the Stony Brook area.

Most important thing first. If you can DON'T BOOK VIA EXPEDIA. Book directly with the hotel via website or phone. The hotel couldn't give me free breakfast / upgrade me to a better room when I arrived because the booking was via Expedia.

I stayed here for a total of five nights. I chose this hotel because it is right next to Stony Brook University. The hotel itself is very nice, well set up, good fitness center, breakfast (ca. 14USD + tip extra). Its a new hotel. Coffee machine in room was great. WiFi was good speed. Really nothing major to complain about.

There are shops at the student union on the university campus if you want cheaper priced food than at hotel. It was pretty good quality food at the student union. As reception for a map of the uni.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Really. Amenities as mentioned at the university, otherwise nada.

One issue: when I called the hotel before coming to find out "how do I get to the hotel from JFK" I got "sorry I don't know. And our shuttle can only go in a 5k radius" as an answer. OK, I understand most Americans drive... but... this is nonetheless something for which this class hotel should have information ready at hand. So I was left to myself. The major shuttle services don't go to Stony Brook area. Hotel said taxi could cost 200 USD. I ended up digging up a shuttle service out of the internet: LIALS long island limousine service (ca. 121USD+tip for return trip to JFK-Hotel-JFK).
