Saw an ad in a local parent magazine so we decided to try it. So far I have been here twice and have tried the Sicilian rice ball, buffalo rice ball, Panelle special and the Nutella rice ball. It was all delicious. All made freah. Can't wait to go back again. Just don't know what to try next.

Our first day in New York. Took the ferry to Staten Island and decided to go hunt down Papa Perrone's (having read so much about it in Yelp). He used to operate from a popular food truck in Manhattan but has decided to open his own shop in Staten. When we went there, the shop was only a week old.

Anyway, it was the best decision ever! Papa was really friendly and welcoming and quite amazed that we came all the way from Malaysia to check out his riceballs! We had the Sicilian, Hot Buffalo and 3-Cheese riceballs - they were all divine but my fave was their signature Sicilian. Sampled the potato croquette and had the nutella riceballs for dessert (yes, we were truly stuffed and sated by then!) and am happy to report that they are all really, really delicious. Papa was joined by Mama and kids later on (such a charming and friendly family) and Mama helped show us a short-cut back to the ferry terminal.

Next time you're in Staten Island, don't miss this place. It's really well worth the slightly uphill 10-min walk!

We had taken the ferry across to Staten Island for the afternoon & came across this place. We'd never even heard of rice balls let alone tried them but we're so glad we tried this place.

The owners JeanPaul & Dana couldn't have been nicer & the rice balls were amazing. We had the traditional Sicilian & the spicy Buffalo chicken, both of which were delicious. The Nutella mini balls for dessert were absolute genius.

Definitely worth a visit if you're going to Staten Island - less than 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Might even be worth the trip just for the rice balls!!
