“Great for families !”

We have a package pass for zoo & children's museum at snug harbor - great for all kids !
We either bring lunch or go for pizza afterwards - so, can't rate food or snacks .
Staff at Zoo are exceptionally friendly and educational. Both places have party rooms.

“Improving”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

When I first moved to Staten Island in 1980 (as a 5 year old) the zoo had lions, tigers, a gorilla, panthers etc. Fast forward it now has different wings such as African savannah, rain forest but not all the great animals that all kids want to see. Hoping they bring them back

“Great small Zoo. Allows for your child to roam about while you see them.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I always loved this Zoo when my kids were young. They take great care of the animals, and its nice ane clean. Because its not too crowded, you can allow your younger kids to run along, without the fear of losing sight of them.
Take your time and really enjoy the exhibits, because you can run through it all in an hour (although its probably a little bigger than the Central Park Zoo).
Bring a light lunch or snack and make more of a day out of it. Go earlier in the day if you want to feed the animals in the Children's Zoo. They are usually pretty full by 12:00.

“Fun and Educational for the whole family”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I live in Staten Island and have been coming to this local zoo for 14 years. Its clean, odorless, inexpensive, loads of animals and baby nursery to see newborn animals. The staff is friendly and informative, you can feed the animals in the petting zoo for a small fee. A merry-go-round is set to be built there shortly. There is a nice a/c restaurant that offers inexpensive foods/snacks, as well as picnic tables on the outside. I recommend this inexpensive day out for kids and adults of all ages. Check their website to see which day is free admission (you can donate if you'd like)

“Wonderful place for a visit”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

My family loves this zoo (children ages 2, 5, and 7). In addition to a cute petting zoo and several nice outdoor exhibits, and a cute area for small kids to climb on, they have a fantastic indoor area that was so welcome on a recent VERY hot afternoon. They have a very informative summer series - we recently saw a raptor show there - and got closer than ever before to the majestic creatures. The animals seem well cared for and the employees are friendly and helpful and seem to genuinely care about the animals. Depending on how quickly you look at the exhibits and whether you catch a show or do any other "kid" activities, you could spend from 2 - 3 hours here, maybe more if you stop for snacks/lunch ect. You and your family will enjoy it! Easy ride from NJ too.
