Lot's to do and see. Active areas and areas for children to just sit and observe. They have something for all ages. It would take hours just to skim through. Once the child found what area it likes they can stay there.

I went here with my nieces and nephews we had a lot of fun There is a lot of this to do here you get to interact with your children. It is a place were you can spend the whole day at. If the weather is nice there are a lot fun stuff outside to do. They also have day were there is events going on for the public to go do there.

Fun for the kids! Lots to do, many creative activities and very educational. We liked the pirate room and arctic area the best! Definitely worth a visit!!

We went with our 2yo and (almost) 5yo, and both had a really wonderful time at this museum, which is located in the Snug Harbor Cultural Center. We've been to many children's museums before, most of which had the same basic kinds of "exhibits" - a play house, some kind of fire truck, jeep, or other vehicle to climb in, a supermarket, craft area, dance studio, etc. But the Staten Island Children's Museum was quite different, and is really the only children's museum that can actually be considered a "museum" for kids! Yes, there was a fire engine to climb in, but there was also a "working" fire hydrant and hose that allowed you to open the hydrant and see the water fill up the hose. And other rooms included a rainforest exploration room that contained puzzles consisting of (safe) shards of pottery that you had to put together to form a bowl and a cup to show how archeologists pieces things together, an artic exploration room with a dog sled to sit in or steer, an insect room with tanks filled with live insects - butterflies, tarantula, praying mantis, etc. plus a huge pretend ant hill that kids could climb into and pretend to be an ant, and lots of other activities (that my children were too young for) to learn about insects. Also a big home construction room that kids would pretend to shingle a room, drill and screw wood together, manuever a digger, etc. Free craft workshops, and so much more, I've only described a fraction of what they have here. Definitely worth a trip. If it were closer, we'd be going here all the time. Bring food if you go on the weekends, as there is no food available there on weekends!
