“This is a must see”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

The tour guide for excellent as he makes you feel that you are there in the time the family lived there. The home is owned by the state of NY, not the park service so they have limited funds and cannot advertise like the others. this home is better than the vanderbilt's it is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the time. It has the best view. we were there before the spring blooming, but I am sure this is a wonderful place in the summer. If we go back to the area, I will go again. It is like a sleeper tour. The home is just as the Mills family left it......

“Another Gem on the Hudson River”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This mansion is beautiful and ornate and reflects the architectural style of its time. Couple this mansion with rolling grassy hills overlooking the Hudson and one will quickly realize the beauty of the Hudson River Valley. This is a great place to visit as are other mansions along the Hudson. Simply breathtaking. If you are a photographer the sites you see are priceless.

“Summer or Xmas best of the valley”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is the best mansion in the valley in terms of the gillded age and has one of the best grounds. The xmas version is even better. I cannot recall anybody who I have brought here who didn't leave blown away. This place is in the same class as the medioum sized Newport Mansions with about 100 times the land area.

“Under restoration but definately enjoy the grounds.”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

The architects for the Vanderbilt's Hyde Park manse did this place- and the effect is obvious coming up the drive & over the one lane bridge. It was a terribly windy day here, but we spent quite a bit of time walking the grounds right down to the Hudson where we got an alternative view of the Esopus Lighthouse. Nice drive in the country to get here as well.

“An Amazing Hudson Valley Landmark!”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Set along a stretch of the Majestic Hudson River are a cluster of historical land marks that will take your breath away. For those of you that read my reviews, you know I love the Hudson Valley. This stretch of the valley, especially the historical homes, are my absolute favorite. The Staatsburgh Mansion (locals refer to it as the Mills Mansion) is a wonderful representation of the Valleys past and its opulence and hope for the future. Although the mansion is definitely showing signs of decay the opulence of the past still shines through. If you are lucky you will get Fraser or Marilyn as your tour guides. The tour is fantastic and a bargain. If you are a Dowton Abbey fan the mansion tour is a must! Christmas is extra special. The grounds are priceless, as are the views!
