“The perfect escape from the city!”
Reviewed September 2, 2010

My boyfriend and I wanted a weekend away from the city to go wine tasting along the North Fork and could not of picked a better bed and breakfast in all of Long Island! Marilyn, the Inn keeper, is one of the nicest women I have met. She was so accomodating and went beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay.
The home is beautiful decorated, well maintain and in a great location. Most the vineyards are a short drive, or for us, an enjoyable bike ride away. Greenport only 5 minutes by drive and the beach is right across the street! Each morning starts with an elegant and delicious breakfast in her grand dining room where we made some wonderful friends. Our stay at the Shorecrest was the perfect escape from the city! We will definitely be back.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in the Northfork and decided to stay at a bed and breaksfast here at Shorecrest. The place is absolutely beautiful. The house was build in the late 1800's and you feel like you've stepped back in time. It was so relaxing and refreshing (after all the wedding planning and stress that goes aloing with it, we needed it).

Marilyn , who is the inkeeper, is wonderful, friendly, and full of information for about anything you need. Her gourmet breakfasts are fabulous (a far cry from the general cornflakes I generally have in the morning).

Across the street, there is the Shorecrest's private beach with some adironack chairs. Go there to relax in the sun or watch the beautiful sunsets.

Thank you Marilyn for a wonderful stay at the Shorecrest!

We are a couple in our mid 20's and we stayed in the Rose Room at the Shorecrest during our 1 night stay. We arrived before check-in to pick up the wine tasting discount card offered to those who stay at one of the participating B&B's in the area. More on this card later. When you pull into Shorecrest from the Route 48 you immediately are able to park in one of the available spots connected to the house. From there it is a short but lovely walk to the entrance. The gardens surrounding the house were beautifully maintained and a pleasure to experience. Once inside, we were greeted by Marilyn, the owner of the B&B. She showed us around. There are some couches with snacks and coffee/tea in the living room. There is also a small library room and off a little further is a patio screen room that is quite nice to sit and relax in while experiencing the outside breeze from within the house. We were allowed to check-in at 12:30 instead of 3 because the room was ready, which was quite nice. We left our bags and headed out to the wineries to do some tastings. Each of the 30 or so participating wineries offer a different coupon. We were able to save around $25 in total for the two of us (the more tastings you do and bottles you buy, the more you save as many deals are percentage discounts). We visited about 8 wineries, all on the Main Road. Duck Walk provided the best discount, allowing for a free tasting when you purchase one and throwing in an additional coupon to their sister winery, Pindar. All told the combination of savings from the Shorecrest B&B discount card and Duck Walk discounts at Pindar ended up allowing us 5 tastings for the price of 2! After tasting and purchasing bottles to our heart content we returned to Shorecrest and enjoyed our room. The Rose Room was quite nice, very clean and offered a jacuzzi that was really wonderful. The bed is quite firm which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preference, we found it slightly uncomfortable. There is no TV in the room but we didn't miss it on our one night stay as there was plenty to do and we had to wake up early for the breakfast prepared by Marilyn that next morning. The breakfast was very good. We were seated around a beautifully made up dining room table in another one of the shared rooms at the house. Fresh fruit, french toast, quiches and juice were offered. We sat around the table with the 3 other couples staying at the B&B and talked about our previous days adventures. Before checking out, which was at 11AM, we visited the private beach across the street from the B&B, which is also owned by Shorecrest. Like all beaches in the area it is filled with many more rocks than it is sand but it was still a nice additional option to be able to cross the street and walk down the short path to spend some time by the water. A great place to have a glass of wine and relax some more :) We plan on returning to Shorecrest during our next wine tasting trip and would certainly recommend it to any couple, young or old, looking for a relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

My Wife and I stayed at the Shorecrest B&B to relax and get some much needed quiet from the City. Upon arrival, we knew we had found our place. The Shorecrest is a beautiful home from the late 1800's and is in excellent shape.

The hostess/owner Marilyn, is very friendly/outgoing and a wonderful cook when it comes to breakfast. We stayed for 2 nights and each morning, we were greeted with fresh coffee and/or hot tea. The breakfast consisted of a main course with various fruits, breads, cakes and fresh juice for sides.

Marilyn even tried to accommodate a young lady that had an intolerance to gluten, without sacrificing the meal for others. So in reality, she made two different meals, which I thought was very sweet of her.

We stayed in the "West Room" which was very clean and neatly appointed. It had huge windows with a beautiful view. It also had a nice bathroom and an LCD TV with premium HD cable.

Staying at the Shorecrest also gives you private access to the Peconic Bay and a path across the street that leads to a private beach on the Long Island Sound. Stargazing at night on the private beach was probably the highlight to our short vacation on the North Fork of Long Island.

My Wife and I travel frequently to the North Fork/Wine Country of Long Island since it is a relatively short ride and a nice quiet get away. We have stayed at several Bed & Breakfasts that were of a higher profile than the Shorecrest. I have to say that this is one of the best B&B's we've stayed at out there in a while regardless of how many or how little reviews a place get's on Tripadvisor. The location is perfectly placed in between the wineries and Greenport, with only a short drive (5-10min) to either. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable with good views....and the hostess is very friendly with good cooking skills. There's not much more you can ask for while staying at a Bed and Breakfast.

We spent our two-year anniversary at Shorecrest. We entered the beautiful and welcoming house with music playing and tea/coffee and cookies waiting. Marilyn is a warm and knowledgeable hostess. My girlfriend eats gluten-free and Marilyn was able to accommodate her dietary needs. Breakfasts were delicious and hardy. Our room was well designed and very clean. It had a nice, romantic feel.

The highlight for me was swimming at the private beach. Across from the house, there is a sheltered path that leads to the beach. The water was warm and calm. It was nice to enjoy a beach in peace and solitude.

For those interested in plants/gardening, Marilyn is very knowledgeable and has designed a beautiful garden with a variety of perennial and ornamental species.

I highly recommend Shorecrest for anyone planning on visiting the North Fork.

Good food, private beach, & Vineyards to visit.

I brought my (now) fiancee to Greenport to propose and we stayed here. The inkeeper was so sweet and accomodating; she made every effort to make our stay memorable, including sneaking some flowers I ordered into our room while we were out for the day. The food was excellent, much better than some other B&B's in the area. When we checked out, the inkeeper gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate! If you are looking for a romantic place to stay on the North Fork, look no further. The views from our room were excellent as well; we could see straight out into the sound from our bed.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I wanted to thank you too for your generosity sharing the delicious edible arrangement with the other guests and the purple roses you were unable to take home still look wonderful in the living room. Thank you too for choosing Shorecrest for such a momentous and happy occasion in your lives and of course, congratulations!
