Coming from Australia we had a preconceived and very romantic vision of what Long Island would be like, particularly the Hamptons area. We found our expectations exceeded from the moment we arrived at Ellis House and were welcomed by Connie. In fact the experience started sooner for us as Connie was very generous with her time in sending emails in reply to our questions. Much appreciated. Connie and Scott were knowledgable about the region and happy to extol the virtues of their favourite wineries, restaurants and attractions, some of which we tried and found to be excellent. The property was well cared for and the room we had was spacious, comfortable and had a very large ensuite bathroom. The guest lounge was huge, yet welcoming with lots of books and couches. Breakfasts were delicious and very filling - set us up well for our busy days.

We would not have any hesitation recommending this property to family, friends or fellow travellers.

We had a lovely weekend at the Ellis House in Southold. Connie, the innkeeper was fantastic and a tremendous cook. The queen sized bed was comfy and the sheets were nice and soft. There was a huge guest living room to relax in, and a pretty outdoor area to enjoy. We would highly recommend this place to anyone wishing a relaxing time in the North Fork.

Room Tip: All the rooms have showers with great water pressure.

Since this was our first time in Northfork, we didn't know where to stay; we found the Ellis House on TripAdvisor and put our faith in the reviewers. Fortunately, the Ellis House is everything that the TripAdvisor said it would be, and more.

Connie Ellis, our host for the weekend, was unbelievably helpful and kind. She gave us recommendations for food, wineries to visit, and other sights to visit during our weekend stay. Best of all, her breakfasts were delicious and a great experience (you sit at a communal table with the other guests, which provides a great opportunity to share eating experiences and winery stories). The house itself and our room were perfect and cozy.

We definitely plan on staying at the Ellis House for our next visit to New York's wine country.

Room Tip: The Parlor Room is very large, as is the bathroom, and we can definitely recommend it (without having seen the other rooms though).

Access to all the NorthFork of Long Island has - beaches on the Sound or Peconic Bay, America's best fresh fruits and veggies at the farm stands, the wonderful people at Cutchogue Fireman's BBQ and, of course, the wine. Ellis House is your home away from home.

Highly recommended - Connie and Scott Ellis were the perfect hosts while we stayed in their historic home. Conveniently located along the Northfork Wine Trail in LI wine country. My bf and I did tastings at 4 nearby vineyards over the course of the weekend. Favorite was Jamesport Vineyards in nearby Jamesport - wine was great, staff was friendly and informative, space is spectacular, raw bar in the back, and the place had live music. We ate at Noah's at Connie's suggestion and shared a dinner of seafood tapas. I'd suggest checking out Greenport Village as it's a short drive away and has plenty of restaurants, casual dining, bars, galleries, boutiques, and a nice marina. Ellis House B&B is convenient to NYC if you're looking for a quiet, hassle-free weekend getaway. If the weather is nice check out the private beach....nice place to relax with a bottle of wine.
