“The perfect end to our holiday”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

My wife and I spent 8 nights in Manhattan in a horrible hotel (which we paid through the nose for) before driving out to Southampton for 5 nights to finish our trip. We were delighted with this Inn/B&B on arrival. The reception area was large and well decorated, and the staff were very friendly.

We paid close to $450/night in Manhattan, so the rates here were a real breath of fresh air... and we got so much more for our money!

The room was large, comfortable and we instantly felt at home. The true test of a hotel room, for me, is if I unpack my suitcase. In the Southampton Inn, I unpacked my suitcase.

The flatscreen TV was large with a great selection of channels, the air con unit was efficient and very quiet, and the bathroom was well sized with fantastic water pressure in the shower.

We ate breakfast downstairs each morning and it normally worked out to be approx. $35 for both of us. These breakfasts kept us going until the evening (with a small snack at lunch) so they were good value for money... and very tasty.

We were using Southampton as a base for exploring the whole of Long Island (over 700 miles in 4 days), so I can't comment much on the town itself. We did, however, eat out twice there and both experiences were great. There are maps of the town and restaurant guides available from reception... a nice touch.

The hotel had a lovely garden and pool, although it was so cold we didn't use either. I'm sure they're perfect in the summer though.

All in, we had a fantastic experience here and I would highly recommend it to any of my friends or family.

The Southamption Inn has a very convenient location, close to the town, beaches and vineyards. However, you get a $120 room for which we paid $399 plus tax. The room was reasonably large, but the bathroom was small and outdated. No coffee in the room. No exercise room. Breakfast prices were surprisingly reasonable... or go across the street to Plaza Cafe (esp. for dinner).

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms on the front side are directly accessed from the parking which makes them very co...

Thank you for staying with us at the Southampton Inn. We hope you enjoyed your stay with us. Our rates are very competitive for the area and we are one of few full service hotels in the Hamptons. Please view our website for any promotions we may be offering or like us on Facebook to stay up to date! It is our goal that our guests have to do as little as possible during their stay. It is not our vision for our guests to make their coffee for themselves but for us to prepare a comforting coffee reception in the lobby or in the lounge of Oso, our restaurant. We currently do have a referral system to Evolutions Gym on Hill Street two stores down please ask upon check-in how to be directed. Again we hope you enjoyed your stay and we hopefully will see you again soon!

A mixed bag at the Southampton Inn. The good - spacious rooms, very good beds, pool and great location. The not so good - we arrived the day after Labor Day, when the "season" officially ends and apparently this meant the end of the Shuttle Service to Coopers Beach. So, a 20/25 minute walk to the beach. No safety box in the room, noise levels from other rooms very high, and limited dining options - i.e. none in the evening, as the season is over. Also, no Guest Services Directory, although the staff were helpful when approached and informed me that they were working on this. Would we stay again? Well, we might but then again, may not.

Thank you for staying with us at the Southampton Inn. We hope you enjoyed your stay with us. We are a seasonal destination and therefore things do tend to wind down a bit and take a slower pace in the Hamptons during the autumn months. If you are experiencing high levels of noise please contact the front desk immediately in order to rectify the situation. Our restaurant Oso does operate under fewer hours during the off season. The Plaza Café next door, a New York Times three star restaurant adjacent to our property is highly recommended and may be a dinning option you are willing to consider. In regards to a guest service directory, yes we ask that you speak to the front desk so that we may find the site or attraction that’s best for you. Thank you again for staying at the Southampton Inn and we hope to see you in the future!

I just don't understand some of these negative reviews. Here's my list of great things about the Southampton Inn (in no particular order): free shuttle bus to the beach all day long, friendly and helpful staff, unlimited clean towels, fab location just a stroll from town, nice pool, attractive grounds, rooms were great, free use of beach stuff (umbrellas, chairs, beach toys, etc), really comfy beds, relaxed atmosphere. We stayed for a week and it was just what we needed. A great hotel, a brilliant holiday.

Rooms very clean and comfortable with Tv, fridge etc. Staff and facilities all very good. Kids loved the pool. 2 minute walk into town for restaurants, cinema, shopping. The free shuttle bus to Coopers Beach is a real bonus and the driver is a star.

After reviewing what seemed to be a fantastic hotel on its website, what a disappointment this hotel was in the middle of a wonderful holiday to the USA. Firstly, the rooms are very old, and on top of each other, your neighbors might as well be in the room with you. There was no safe in the room, the light came in at 5am, and when asking for a child cot (extra $39 per night on top of an extortionate room rate) it was impossible to sit on due to the broken bed springs, let alone sleep on. The food was not good at all, and the waiter seemed totally confused. It seemed we were not the only disappointed guests, each time I went to reception or past the restaurant, I heard complaints. Our conclusion: Unless you have a lovely house to stay at in Southampton, give it a skip!!

this is not a luxury hotel. it is a motel (at best) -- which is actually an insult to motels.... there is no management of the hotel, the staff is belligerent and rude. the prices are literally insane based on what you get... the worst part is that it is dirty and moldy. my family and I actually felt ill after staying there and we have since learned that other guests have felt the same way. Sadly, I think the hotel has made up some fake profiles and posted positive reviews but don't get fooled, it is a really bad place and is a total waste of money.

Room Tip: don't stay here. all the rooms are noisy and have walls of cardboard. also it's very buggy...

We are always concerned when guests do not enjoy their stays. But for readers of TripAdvisor, we want to emphasize that approximately 65% of our guests return year after year, that senior management has been with the company for many years that our housekeeping and maintenance staff do an outstanding job of insuring immaculate guest rooms and public facilities. We reflect an unassuming, friendly relaxed environment for over 40,000 annual visitors. We take pride in the positive experiences from thousands of loyal guests and will try harder for the very few who report negative visits.
We here at the Southampton Inn continue to make every effort to offer a clean and comfortable place to stay at a rate directed towards value, in an area that offers countless reasons to visit. All feedback is very valuable to us and we will use all comments provided to improve the guest experience at the Southampton Inn as we move into the future.
