“Always dependable...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

When I want to eat good beef, I go to Shippy's - plain and simple. You can rant and rave about any other steak house and you'd probably be right, if it's a big porterhouse that you want to sink your teeth into or impress friends with the high prices you feel obligated to pay. But Shippy's always offers a tender and delicious filet of beef that can't be beat for price or quality. Their homemade cole slaw is legendary, as is their chopped liver, and mixed cocktails...yes, those Manhattans and the like that were popular with our parents in the 50s - Shippy's remembers what they taste like. And their mashed potatoes ARE truly potatoes and not something processed by a factory in Tennessee or Jersey City. Want to eat with Southampton's locals who have eaten there for decades? Have no fear. This is the place, but leave your snotty, screaming kids at home - this is not a nursery school and patrons have little patience for ill-mannered city brats.

“A perennial favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

We go to shippys on average once a week. Love the food and people . The service is stellar, Zena the warrior waitress is a hoot
! My favorite is the chicken codon bleu. Jim loves the lamb chops! Bring your appetite and leave your attitude!

“Good authentic lunch spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

We specifically went to eat here because they advertised authentic German food. We came during lunch and were seated at a table in the back. The atmosphere is dim and cozy. There are a variety of dishes to select from and we had the Bratwurst (with kraut) and the Weinerschnitzel. My boyfriend, who is from Germany, said that the food was pretty good and close to what he had at home. The portions are large and come with potato and soup/salad side dish. They offer a full bar and desserts. The price is on the expensive side, but you are in the Hamptons.
