I don't know what they're doing with the $259-night rates they're charging for this place, but I am certain that they are investing NOTHING in upgrading or maintaining this motel. Step into any room and its like time traveling to the early 1980s. Midnight blue carpeting was stain-ridden and filthy looking, obviously had not been changed in 25 years or more. Bathroom was equally disgusting, also has not been upgraded in a quarter century or longer. Towels were very worn and about as thin as bed sheets. Walls are also thin, beware of being on bottom floor as you will hear every footstep above you. No iron in room, but I'm sure if they provided one it would belong in a museum. Wifi is slow and spotty. Musty odor in room.

Another important point: the location is not nearly as ideal as they lead you to believe. It is situated on a very busy four lane road (you'll hear passing traffic day and night). It is within walking distance to virtually nothing, except a gas station across the street. And even that is near suicide to get to as you have to cross that busy road. Downtown Southampton is a minimum 10 minute drive. If you're going to spend this kind of money, at least stay in a place within walking distance of Southampton.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. If they are going to offer this hotel in the condition that it is in then they should at least charge a fair price for it....which would be no more than $79/night.

Bottom line....disgusting place to stay. You've been warned.

Room Tip: Save yourself the disgust and stay somewhere else.

Considering the hotel shortage in the Hamptons, the Atantic is a necessary evil. In any other part of the country, this would be a $99 motel room. Although the room was large, the carpets were very old and dank, and the furnishings were Ikea-esque. The only saving grace is that the linens were fresh and clean.

If you're looking for a cheaper place to stay in the Hamptons that you don't plan to spend too much time at, this place is fine.

I went with some friends and we booked a room at the Bentley, which upon arrival, had absolutely no one working there. The door to the office was locked, no message on the door or anything. A pool guy showed up and told us to go to the Atlantic down the street to check in. When we got there, they said they were overbooked and put us in that location (which seems to be a common occurrence with booking rooms at either motel, based on reviews.

The rooms aren't pretty, AC could be better, front desk could be more knowledgeable about, really, everything (the motel, the area, etc), vending machines/ refrigerators could be more functional - but the beds are comfy and if you plan to be at the beach or exploring the area for most of your trip, this place is acceptable. The pool is kind of nice, as is the property. People are at the front desk 24 hours. They have a communal grill, tennis, and volleyball court. Not too close to the ocean, but you should definitely have a car in the Hamptons - cabs are total extortion out there!

I'd come back for a girls trip, but not to relax. They have small towels.

Room Tip: Don't expect a room. You might get put at the other location. But I'd say a room with a pool view at the Atlantic would be the nicest way to go.

I stayed at The Atlantic in Southampton and was pleasantly surprised. There are not many places to stay in that area other than homes. The rooms are generously oversized and have very nice decor. Nice pool with an oversized lawn area. The staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations for dining in town and easy beach access. I highly recommend this property as well as the BLT Restaurant located down the street at The Capri Hotel.

I stayed at the Atlantic recently for one weekend night and was pleasantly surprised upon my arrival. Maybe my expectations were low after reading the reviews on this website but I will say that the staff was nice, the hotel is well kept, my room was clean and spacious, and the hotel pool is nice. I would not want to stay at the hotel for more than a few days as it is not really located in a prime location; however, you can get a taxi relatively easy by calling one. I think most people that have reviewed this hotel are expecting a lot more for the $400+ per night that this hotel charges but they should realize that $400 per night in the Hamptons is about the cheapest place you can find during the summer months. I would definitely stay at the Atlantic again if I needed a 1-2 night hotel.
