“So close, yet so far....”

They nearly got it right at this renovated 1960s-era roadside motel. The fluffy white beds, the modern blonde wood – it seemed like it would be perfect for two low-maintanence travelers.

The room was stuffy, so we tried to open the windows. Painted shut. Air conditioner made an extremely loud noise. Bed was old and saggy, pillows awkward, and there was no top sheet under the duvet. Though it was a brisk night outside, with the windows sealed shut and the air con thumping away, we were roasting under the comforter. Just an awful night's sleep.

The lighting is nice, it's vaguely stylish, though the furniture arrangement is bizarre, with the tiny television too far from the bed to see clearly. The shower made a loud screaming sound the entire time. The skylight above the bed (note- very bright in the morning) was cracked to pieces up there. And on top of this, though the simple snacks for breakfast are appreciated, the coffee was so thin it appeared to be tea.

Oh Atlantic, we wanted to like you. Really wished you would keep up on your maintenance and at least improve the beds and the coffee.

I stayed here on Labor Day weekend with my wife and two daughters. We booked late and had trouble finding a place to stay. This place looked decent and had availability so we took a shot. It turned out to be pretty good. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to do, the room was big and pretty clean and the service was good. The pool is nice and the Internet access was good. We had two TVs in the suite but on one the cable was not working. Overall, is was better than I expected.

Last year we stayed at The Bentley, The Atlantic's sister hotel. When we tried to get a room at the Bentley this year, we found the rates to be too high for us. So we ended up at the Atlantic, which was not a step down by any means.

The staff is friendly, the room we took had a comfortable queen bed and a twin-sized fold out couch that was perfect for our 4 year old. We had plenty of room for the portable crib for our toddler as well. Lots of comfy pillows were provided. The rooms are pretty much as photographed on the website, which is a nice surprise.

We had a pool-facing room, #115, that was very quiet and away from the street noise. The main road is very busy and you can often get caught in traffic trying to get somewhere. I hear the price is more for the pool-facing rooms but they didn't charge us extra for some reason (since we didn't request one?).

There is a fantastic looking pool area that we never had a chance to take advantage of. There is an area next to the pool that has sand and a volleyball net. There are 2 tennis courts that looked like a good time, but we didn't have time for those either.

Both the Bentley and the Atlantic are old hotels that have been renovated and re-renovated over their lifetimes. They do have a mild "old hotel" funk, but nothing terminal. There were a lot of dogs when we were there, so I'm guessing it's pet friendly.

We had no complaints at all, we would stay again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for the beach parking pass if you are driving. And they might even lend you some bi...

We spent almost a week at this motel. Nice place if you avoid a room on the side of the main street. On pool side the place is quiet. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We booked the room through booking.com. The rate was clearly defined to include everything including the so-called continental breakfast. When it was time to pay, there were some services charges added to my bill (to apparently pay for the continental breakfast and the pool towels) I contested the additional service fees as it was not part of the confirmed rate. They accepted to withdraw them but they had already charged my credit card before I signed the bill. The clerk pretended to prepare a credit to be applied on my credit card and printed a bill. This credit was never applied to my credit card account. They charged my credit card the full amount including the illegal service fees. They only pretend to agree and the printed bill was a fake. Booking.com was advised but nothing has been done so far from both parties.
Another word about the so-called continental breakfast. This breakfast includes coffee (not necessary available all the time), a couple of bananas on a table and about half a dozen mini-muffins. When this food was gone, well, that was it for the continental breakfast. Come back tomorrow.
Be aware of the commercial practices of this business. Make sure before you book that the rate is the rate and that there are no hidden charges. If they still charge the fees complain to the booking organization and complain to the motel administration. Complain to the credit card company if they make you sign a credit and do not apply it.

Room Tip: always ask for hidden fees before booking the room; always ask for a room on pool side because on st...

We came to the Hamptons for a 4 day weekend and made our reservations about a month in advance. We were given a room # during the reservation process and we were verty happy with the location and price. We travel with our dog and this is one of the few places out east that takes dogs.
when we arrived we were told that they had changed our room. I told the woman at the desk that i prefered our promised room and she advised me that they had some large groups check in and they had to switch us. The rooms are large and very clean, a big concern for us. The bed was very comfortable.
We went to our room and unpacked. Because it was a beautiful day and we prefer fresh beach air to AC, we opened the window.....big mistake! That first night we heard every car that went past on 27!! It kept us both up most of the night!!

The next day we went to the front desk and the women behind thedesk (someone differnt from the day before) promised to switch us (to the original room we should have gotten) later on in the day. They were true to their word and allowed us to move rooms at around 3pm. The new room was also very clean, large and tastefull. The only thing to be aware of with the rooms is that they say the room comes with a refrigerator, when in actuality, it was a "mini bar" in its previous life....so it doesnt get very cold and it doesnt hold very much.

The new room was great, we were very happy with the location of the hotel and the staff was great and very pleasant to deal with. they offer a small continental breakfast (coffee & muffin or croissant type stuff, and some apples or oranges).
This room was also a bit noisy with late night revelers and people walking & talking late intot the night, but again we had the windows open and were not using the AC. If we had been using the AC, we probably wouldnt have noticed.

Again the staff was great!

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side are much better, unless you like facing a parking lot.
