The Packwood House is a sister property of the Sherwood Inn right down the street. We read the reviews and chose this property due to comments and the more modern look of the amenities, as opposed to the more historical Sherwood Inn. And the only reason we chose modern over the old style inn was that we often stay in an old inn in Lancaster County. We made our own reservations, Nancy at the desk was more than helpful, what a pleasant lady to deal with. She filled us in on Seafood Musicfest that would be going on at The Sherwood Inn, and suggested we arrive in time for it and check in at The Sherwood to get our parking pass, so we wouldn't be bothered about finding a place to park. When we arrived at The Sherwood Inn for register for our parking pass, we were greeted at the desk by Nancy as well as Margaret. Again, both are very personable. But the best was yet to come. Since Nancy and I had chatted on the phone about this trip being anniversary celebration, she informed us that she had upgraded our room and that we would be pleasantly surprised when we checked in at 3:00. Well that was an understatement! Our room was 308 which is on the top floor (they have an elevator), left corner unit, when looking at the building from the front. The room was long and spacious but the best part - French doors opening onto a nice sized patio and the most beautiful view of the gazebo and Lake Skaneateles. Our room had a kitchenette in the middle, the bathroom was good size with both a standup shower and a jetted tub. We couldn't thank Nancy enough for this upgrade. What's a little strange about this building is that the rooms are over the top of a Talbot's Clothing Store, but don't let that deter you. You have a private side entrance, only accessible via your room key card, and an elevator to the room above, or (and this was a great plus), to the underground parking garage. The garage is accessible from either the street or the elevator inside the building. And again, you can only access the garage elevator using your room key card. There is a continental breakfast in the Sherwood Inn, which is about a 2 minute walk. They do put out some coffee in the Packwood House on the 2nd floor, but nothing like what is available at The Sherwood Inn. As far as location, probably the best in town. The crosswalk is right in front of the Packwood House, where you can cross for the gazebo or the boat cruises. The Bluewater Grill is right across the street as well. And if you'd really like a new outfit, there is Talbot's right downstairs! Another FYI, there is no staff in this building, they are all located at the Sherwood House. This was not an issue for us. Another helpful staff member was Lucinda. She gave us some good info and a map of some places to checkout. In closing, this will always be a first choice while staying in Skaneateles and if you need some good information, see Nancy, Margaret or Lucinda at The Sherwood Inn. They are the best!

Room Tip: For the best overall view, ask for Room 308.

Stayed here for a wedding. this property is the "sister" property of the sherwood hotel which is basically next door so you check in at the Sherwood. the packwood is just rooms no lobby and no restaurant . if yo are visiting this quiet little town you cant beat the location , walking distance to restaurants, shopping and lake access is across the street. about 20-25 min drive from SYR int airport I recommend renting a car as it is much cheaper than the $90 each way cab ride/

We just love this place and stay here when we really want to celebrate. It has a wonderful view of the lake and the rooms have been updated and are really nice. We can't wait to stay there again. Just a lovely place to stay.

This hotel is s group of rooms associated with the Sherwood Inn 2 buildings away on the same side of the street. The accommodations are first class with all new furnishings. While it does not have the charm of the 1807 Sherwood Inn, it is more comfortable with new furnishings and larger room. The free breakfast is available at the Sherwood. Great location - directly across from the town park / beach and a very comfortable walking distance from the town shops.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lake side - 3rd floor - great views of the lake

Recent stay for my wife and I. 3 days in this quaint, picture post card little town on the lake. It is like going back in time, band plays in the park on Friday pm, only 1 chain store in town, and some great food. People are actually friendly, shops are lovely.
We will stay there again as we visit there 2-3 times per year.

No rooms at the historic Sherwood inn so we were put just a half block away at their property- thenewly redone Packwood house. Lucky for us to be "relegated" to this location because we were surprised by A very nicely done room with an upscale looking upholstered headboard, soft linens and a tile and granite bathroom. The room felt like a high end boutique hotel and though we opted for their least expensive "queen" we had a nice view of the lake and plenty of space. Extremely quite and as promised, really good coffee and pastries were waiting in the hall in the morning. A quick getaway in skaneateles on a beautiful August day.
