“Really, really great burgers”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

This is a big place with long tables and you go up to the counter to order. They'll call your name when your order is ready.
We happened in on $3 Thursday - when you get a 1/2 pound black angus burger for $3 (usually it's $7.29). That burger was juicy, beefy and one of the best out there.
And, there's plenty of parking around the back.

Lots of choices for your burgers, but the burger itself was fairly tasteless.

“Beware the Exotic Meats!!”
Reviewed October 3, 2010

Format very similar to Fuddruckers, our local chain. You would expect them to be experts with a hamburger. According to my wife, who had a normal hamburger, she was quite impressed. Their fries were better than we would have expected. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of ordering a burger made with boar meat - one of their "exotic" selections. When I first bit into it, I thought, "gee this looks underdone". But I thought no professional would under-do a pork-related product. Wrong!! Severe indigestion dogged me for the rest of the day. Stay away from the complicated stuff, and you'll do okay here.

“Decent food but an organizational disaster”
Reviewed September 5, 2010

I'll disclose up front: This is one of those places where you order at the counter, sit at tables that are arranged in long rows all pushed together, then go pick up your food when you name is called. The "cattle car" type seating means there was no way I was giving this place more than 4 stars at best. If you're into that sort of "atmosphere," you might enjoy this place more. We went for breakfast. Bacon was good, pancakes great, scrambled eggs OK, but not much flavor. The place was crowded and there was no signage telling you how things worked. We eventually figured out that we seated ourselves. After sitting down for a few minutes, it became apparent you had to go up to a counter to order. There were no signs or directions telling where the line formed, and as a consequence people were queuing up two different directions from the single register that was taking orders. Unless you go during a slow time of the day, you are going to be sitting up close and personal with strangers, as most seating is in tables arranged in long rows that seat 16-20. If you have a group of more than 3-4, prepare to split up to find seating unless the place is unusually empty. Overall, the food wasn't bad, and they could greatly improve the place with a minimum of effort. First, put up some signs with at least minimal directions of how the place works. Second, break up the seating into smaller table. This could be done easily without losing more than 12-14 seats in the whole place (it probably seats at least 200 now, so that's not very significant. I would probably go back, especially for lunch (the menu looked appealing), but until these problems are addressed, it would never be my first choice.

“Fun restaurant - great for families”
Reviewed May 18, 2010

Johnny's is our go-to place when looking for quick, inexpensive dining with the kids. There are enough simple options for kids while also providing plenty of choices for adults. They have more than just burgers, including salads, chicken sandwiches, chili, etc, and have a great breakfast menu. The atmosphere is very kid friendly with a small play area, but is still comfortable for adults without kids. They have large picnic tables suitable for large groups or comfortably sharing with other parties.
