Being raised in the Fingerlakes region makes you privey to the many charming lakeside eateries and all it's charm. Non more charming and nostalgic is the Manadana Inn which has attracted local pattons and out of town guests for over a century. The restaurant which offers traditional continental cuisine has recently been purchased by one of it's long time employees named James and he has freshened up the place without sacrificing any of the antiques, traditional memorablilia and nostalgic charm of the original ownership. Truely one of the last of Skaneateles Lakes relic haunts that preserves a slice of yesterday by keeping many of the menu favorites like the cracker crumb scrod and steamed clams but offers up some delicious fresh new items like fried green tomatos, not to be missed and saiteed soft shell crab and frogs legs prepared by chef Luke. Make sure to pair that with one of the great wine selections that the owner has carefully hand selected. And don't think of leaving without finishing with strawberry ruhbarb crisp and home made vanilla bean ice cream mmmmmmm.

This was our first visit to the Mandana Inn for dinner since the new owner updated the restaurant over the winter. The exterior is freshly painted with new windows and is nicely spruced up. The menu has the same items as before (including scrod and other favorites) but several new things have been added, including a whole entree salad section and several side dishes that are also gluten-free (polenta,, risotto). The service is still attentive, and the dining room has been freshened up while retaining the historic feel of the place. Special favorite touches like the cheese and cracker platter by the bar and the relish plate are still on hand.

We really enjoyed our meal, and were happy to find the addition of new items along with the retention of the old character that makes this place such a comfort to return to year after year.

We went for Easter and had a wonderful meal. The changes are subtle but nice. Great menu, something for everyone. Nice updates to the menu. Service was great and prices are moderate. We have been going for years and are glad it is still worth the drive down the lake!

Tried out the Mandana Inn for the first time since new owner James took over. Was hoping for more of a change, but I guess that will take time. Same OLD menu (it was even very dirty inside the plastic covering) and the only saving grace was the specials that were offered. All 4 of our meals were good... the seafood stew was great (one of the nights specials) Here's hoping for new things coming from the new owner

We visited the Mandana in 2X in the span of a couple of weeks this summer and had two totally different experiences. At one visit we were part of a large group and ate in the dining room. The food was awful and the service worse. Our other visit was to the tavern area of the restaurant. We stood at the bar and were well tended to by Dave the bartender. We ordered off the Tavern menu. The quality of the food was excellent. One of my well-traveled (and picky) companions said the soft shell crab (ordered by the crab) was the best he had ever eaten. We also had a delicious burger. The management would not allow us to order off the tavern menu while in the dining room which I felt was especially mean since our large party ranged in age from 2-75.
