“A Real Delight!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

When visiting Skaneateles, a must stop is the Sherwood Inn; whether a light lunch; drink and snacks or their Friday seafood bar. This place is like days of old with a younger twist. The views of the lake are great and the staff is very welcoming.

“A Landmark - Good food and Beautiful View”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Sherwood Inn is our favorite hangout in Skaneateles for good food, beautiful view of the lake and people watching. The tavern is our choice of dining but if you're looking for a more romantic, quiet dining experience, the dining room is perfect. The large bar in the tavern is usually crowded and the drinks are great. The food is always good. You can't go wrong with Scrod Christopher of Yankee Pot Roast! The specials go fast on busy nights. Our last visit was July 2nd and we ordered the calamari as an appetizer. I'm not a fan of calamari but even I enjoyed it!

“Family reunion lunch”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

After a July 4th family reunion, some of the girls got together on the 5th for lunch at Sherwood Inn. We had a reservation for a table on the porch, so had a beautiful view of Skaneateles Lake. The service was a little slow when we got there, but once everyone had drinks and had ordered things moved right along. Our waitress was very nice and very accommodating. The food was good - they bring warm sour dough and brown bread to the table and it is excellent. I had the quiche of the day which was a broccoli/bacon quiche. It is made in a spring form pan so it is much deeper than usual, and came with a little salad. Excellent. There was a good mix of tables of 4 or less and bigger groups like ours, and it would be good for either case. Of course it was a holiday weekend; the Inn's parking lot was completely full, there was no street parking nearby (all full), and we ended up parking at a grocery store a few blocks away. (Sunny day, and no elderly people in my car, so not an issue for us personally.) But I would definitely eat here again!

“Continues to delight”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We brought six friends from eastern NY & Mass. to dine at the Sherwood with us after a full day of CNY touring. It took a few minutes to nab parking spaces in the Sherwood's parking lot, but we were able to get spaces for both cars. We had reservations on the (enclosed) porch for 7 pm, and were immediately escorted to our table, which was in the ell, with lake and side views. Our waitress was both friendly and competent, and our guests enjoyed chatting and joking with her throughout the meal. Four of our group pronounced this one of the best meals they had ever had. Everything was well-prepared, nicely presented and cooked to order. Our only disappointment was that they were out of Prime Rib, a weekend special which about half of the party wanted to order. All of our guests requested that we bring them to the Sherwood the next time they visit in the fall. The Sherwood delivers well-prepared, standard American fare in a relaxed atmosphere. Not pretentious or gourmet, but a treat every time.

Solid food. Steady meal, you know will be good. Atmosphere is amazing. Packed in summer, so deal. Two bartenders are institutions. Central NY pride.
