“Serenity and History”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

I almost always take visitors on this most pleasant of walks-it's on a flat old railroad bed next to a babbling steam amidst the ruins of old mills and dams (on hot summer days just cool your feet in the stream and relax). It's not a long walk..so take your time and drink in this trip into the past.

“Great place for hiking”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Spent an hour hiking the Charlie Major Nature Trail this past weekend while visiting Skaneateles. The trail is very well maintained and has a great waterfall and scenic stream that runs along the trail. Felt very safe.

“A hidden gem!!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is a peaceful place!!! With a creek, park, picnic tables, bridges and a little history too.
If you stop by the Mottville post office / Mottville Emporium / Rehab consignment for a map of the trail so you know what each place on the trail was.

“Nice walking trail on the edge of the village”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Very easy flat walk along a restored railroad bed. It follows the Skaneateles Creek/River past several ruins from 18th to 20th century factories and mills. There is a free trail map at the visitor's center that describes the ruins along the trail.

“Trail with a Twist”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Walked this trail with family members and there are interesting things to see along the way. Met a woman who donated and installed a bench overlooking one of the water falls. Have attached pictures of our hike.
