Had a lovely evening in this upscale restaurant located in a smart sprawling house. Had an outside table in their gardens. Great service. Food was great.

My fiance and I have been regular patrons at Vine Street Cafe since the first week they opened for business. I can't recall how many years ago that was but we have enjoyed the food here on a regular basis, throughout the year, and have never been disappointed. The consistency and the preparation of their menu is truly excellent. The staff who work tirelessly--Chris Calloway the manager, and Mike the bartender, both of whom are expert at card tricks (but only when it's not busy!) help make this place something to look forward to. Some of our favorite dishes: filet mignon, pasta bolognese, bouillabaisse, salmon with miso, calamari salad, prawns...the desserts are fantastic too--the strawberry shortcake, which I had last night with colleagues from NYC who made the trip to Shelter Island to have dinner. Well worth visiting, you won't be disappointed.

The food delicious and inventive making good use of local ingredients. Desserts are decadent and awesome, service fantastic. I have since seen them multiple times on Food Network, now I know why!

Dining at Vine Street is lovely. We ordered our meal and were pleased with the presentation and taste. My husband however ordered the prix fix but since he was a vegetarian there was an additional price. The management was very reasonable and apologetic for any misunderstanding. They offered us the prix fix price and even made up for it with our bill. I definitely would go back.

We just came back from Shelter Island - went by boat - thought we'd check out one of the marinas (Coecles) for an overnight off season mini vacay. We love SI and all that it offers. I had checked out the reviews of Vine St. and since they were all pretty good, we decided to go there for dinner. Very cute place..nice modern decor, upscale - sort of reminded us of the North Fork Table in Southold - classic and clean w/ dark wooden floors & furniture, white walls, white tablecloths etc. We had a very good dining experience overall - ordered the tuna appy, the strip steak, the swordfish and sorbet for dessert. The tuna was excellent but i wish it didnt have wasabi mixed in the salad, it took away from the whole flavor of the dish because all you tasted was the hotness of the wasabi - but the tuna itself was good quality. The steak and fish were also excellent - very tasty, cooked perfectly. We did not like the flavors of the sorbet - too tart for our taste - but overall - the service and the food were great...and we would definitely go back! The only thing i would complain about was the price of the taxicab getting to the restaurant!
