Schuylerville is actually old Saratoga and the village is actually in the midst of the actual Saratoga battlefield. The cafe/bakery is located on the main street and occupies the bottom of a large frame house. It has a small parking lot but there is parking on the street as well. The one room dining area is not to large but the staff is very accomodating in moving tables to suit the number in the party. There is nothing special to draw one into this eatery except that they have make some of the best simply delicious meals. My personal favorite sandwich is their roast beef and cheese on their freshly baked rye bread. They stake the meat and with the fresh bread and bit of mayo...Dagwood would be in heaven and added to the sandwich is their unbeatable potato salad...yep..unbeatable.. Their pastries are first rate and the service is fantastic. Don't expect to be blown away by the decor but do expect excellent food prepared with care and served with a smile. Oh yes, and if they are serving their loaded potato soup the day you visit, drop your previous plans and get to the restaurant, the soup alone is worth the trip.

We usually have either breakfast or lunch there weekly. Yesterday stopped in for lunch and partner ordered their Italian sandwich "special". He raved and raved about it all day. I enjoyed a breakfast burrito and a carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting. YUM! His dessert was coconut cream pie topped with whipped cream and toasted coconut. His description of it was "out of this world". We both love Erica's potato salad so we bought a pound of it for dinner later. Staff and owner are outstanding!

I'm currently on a bike tour across North America and my breakfast at Over the Moon was by far the best meal I've had on my trip. The staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with homefries- everything tasted fresh and homemade; I happily ate every bite of it. Their coffee! Thank you!!

The town of Schuylerville lies in a scenic part of New York, but is itself a bit run down. However Over the Moon Cafe is not run down at all. It is clean, bright, air conditioned, friendly, and has great food. We were in for an early coffee and sweet before moving on to NYC. Due to a previous busy day they only had time to bake muffins. The friendly owner said they usually have several pastries to choose from. The muffins were fresh and delicious. Good coffee as well. Owner makes everything from scratch, even roasts her own meats. Open for breakfast and lunch. Closed Tuesdays.
