We had not dined at Witherbees in many months and decided to go there for dinner two weeks ago and had an excellent dinner. The food was very good and the service was good. It was a Sunday evening and not very busy.

We will definitely return with friends in the future. It was a nice evening.

We were here in mid-July on a Tuesday, their Lobster Special night. There were things we loved about it and things we found downright laughable, but still enjoyable. For one, we loved the charming cabin-like atmosphere. All wood paneling inside, big windows in the "porch-like" area where we sat. Lovely. The service was absolutely, laughably atrocious ... unfortunately ... but the sweet young lady was clearly and earnestly doing her best. It was clear to us that she was not well-trained. And we had to remind ourselves that we were each from much larger cities across the country and we had just arrived in town. Time to slow it all down and adapt to this wonderfully peaceful town. This place is from a slower, sweeter time, which we found charming.

The lobster dinner came without frills for $22 or "with frills" for $29. What are the frills, I asked. She had no idea, even though it was Lobster night. We found that odd. Off she politely went to ask. She came back to report that the frills were mashed or baked potatoes and a soup or salad. Sounds good. I opted for the frills.

What does the stuffed flounder come with, my mom asked. (Like the lobster, it was on the Specials menu.) Again, she had no idea. Off she went to ask, after trying to find it on the menu, just in case we had missed the non-existent description. It came with the Chef's mix, a potato, and a soup or salad.

What comes with the steak, my aunt asked. Yep ... off she went to ask, as we held in a huge burst of laughter! The steak comes with "the Chef's mix," potato, and soup or salad.

What is the Chef's mix? ... Hahaa! She didn't know that either. Off she went, once again, ever so earnest and sweet and polite.

There were all sorts of basic waitress things that were overlooked -- frequent reaching over one guest's plate to reach the other guest; clearing two plates from the table for dessert, but not the third dinner plate, nor the bowl full of leftover lobster parts. Just poor training all the way around for what we felt was a fairly expensive place.

On the bright side, my lobster dinner (and the frills!) were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked! Our side salads were extra fresh and crisp with lots of tasty variety. The dressings were scrumptious. My aunt's steak was very flavorful and cooked just the way she likes it, but it was a tad tough. My mom's flounder was fairly average and stuffed with what she thought was sausage, though she expected a seafood stuffing.

We had a wonderful time at this cozy restaurant filled with well-meaning, hoping-to-be-helpful staff. Our food was good enough (mine was outstanding). We would definitely go here again, but with lowered expectations next time. Overall, a wonderful introduction to this welcoming, charming town!

Chicken Marsala was very good. My son had full rib special and loved it half portion would have been plenty. The upstairs is available for a more informal dinner. Friendly staff. Not a whole lot of menu options though . I will definitely go back.

We enjoyed our Thursday night out in the Loft, which had great music and excellent food. Everyone was very friendly, and there is a real family atmosphere. Downstairs is the dining room with a wonderful menu, and upstairs is the Loft tavern with pub food and open mic music that was terrific. We will definitely go back on Thursdays to have a good time!

We love to sit at the bar and enjoy some popcorn while chatting with fellow patrons and the owners. Thursday night Open Mic Night really draws a consistent crowd. Always welcoming Witherbees is a fav!
