The Carrot Barn offers farm fresh veggies... Delicious muffins & desserts... It is a little pricey, but compared to store prices, it's not too bad, plus you are getting fresh, ripe veggies. The Carrot Barn is the only place I can find Candy onions. Candy onions are delicious, very sweet, much sweeter than Vadalia onions & you can get them in red or white varieties... They are much cheaper when you purchase them by a half bushel instead of buying by the pound (just ask for them in larger quantities) They last for many months when stored in a cool dry place & they freeze beautifully. If you are in the Schoharie area, check them out... If you like to pick your own fresh veggies, check out Barbers (in Schoharie) a bushel of tomatoes are just $14.00 (2009 pricing) when you pick your own... Truly worth the trip!!!

“Terrific store for local and New York State products”
Reviewed December 17, 2006

This store goes by many names - the Carrot Barn, Schoharie Valley Farms, even Westheimer's to some locals (the former owner's last name). My family has been enjoying their warm cider donuts, fresh baked muffins, cakes, pies, cookies, coffee and hot cocoa for years now - breakfast , lunch or dessert. Just in the past year they've also opened a small cafe (very limited seating) offering fresh soups, chili, light salads, and sandwiches that change weekly. All very reasonably priced and delicious (I know I've had them all - my favorite is the chili and chicken salad sandwich with cranberries). They also sell local eggs, frozen meats, milk and, of course, locally grown vegetables if you're looking to bring food home and create your own meal. They also set a variety of craft goods, from baskets to local prints, candies, honey, maple syrup and other seasonal goods. The only thing I don't like about the Carrot Barn is that is closes from December 24 and re-opens March 1. But that's all the bad points I can think of...
