“Adventure in a Bat Cave”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

Stopped by here for a Friday lunch based on other enthusiastic reviews. Can't say I agree with them. One person's intimate experience to me was dark and cramped. This place is really a diner with stools at a counter plus a few tables for 2 on street level plus an upstairs bat cave that might seat 20 in a pinch. It's painted all black with minimal lighting that makes me suspicious of sanitation.

Some of the food was exceptionally good such as the various eggplant dishes that really were outstanding but the grilled fish I ordered was a so so lacking flavor and oily and served with beans not at a safe serving temperature and rice that quite ordinary. Paricularly shocking are the wine prices. $9.50 for a glass! and the least expensive was $7.50.

Service was charming and efficient but the kitchen a bit on the slow side. All in all this is the kind of place to try for your own opinion if you don't mind being crowded and don't dink wine. But forget the gushy reviews that seem to place more emphasis on the owner's style rather than the combination of food, price, and atmosphere.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

What a lovely experience!!!!

From the outside this restaurant doesn't look like much but inside, the ambiance is superb.... So intimate, so personal...

Very great place in downtown area...

I had a very delicious fish meal!!! I told the owner to cook something spicy for me and she did a real chef d'oeuvre!!!

Awesome!!! The green tea is also delicious!!!

A real must!!!

I love this place. Mororccan food with plenty of spice. The owners are so friendly and the food - excellent. Felt right at home and the owner didn't want us to leave!

“Cracker of a place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

This quiet little place run by owner and wife surprised us by the quality of food only surpassed by service. The owner insisted we have more tea, bread, couscous, as much as we wanted while I enjoyed the generous lamb and spinach tagine. While you could argue $18-20 is high for an entree, try matching that quality and taste at any lower price. I would strongly recommend the tagine I had along with their chicken kebab starter. Very different from the usual fare.
