Description: In 2009 the Van Dyck reopened under new owners, the McDonald Family, giving this historic venue new life. In 2011, the McDonald's again revitalized the Van Dyck by getting the formerly used brewery on premise functioning once more, under the name, the Mad Jack Brewing Company. Fresh brews are made weekly, and can be seen through the open glass brewhouse behind the restaurant. Sampler, growlers and kegs are available for purchase. Come in and enjoy the freshest brews in the most historic setting in the city.

Come here all of the time now. Love the food, love the brewed beer, love the atmosphere.

I ordered the french onion soup and salmon over spinach risotto and both were amazing!

I've also had the wings in the past and they were delicious as well.

Nice, big bar with their own brews! Love the seasonal ales.

Perfect place to go on a date or to spend a night out with friends!

Great place to meet with friends and see live music as well. Building and atmosphere are great. Their own brews are really good. Food selection is a mixture of above average pub food, pizzas, salads, and a few good entrees. Really surprised another reviewer implied the prices were high; I would say just the opposite. My entree was less than $15 and was enough food to bring almost half of it home. Definitely recommend.

I haven't been there in years. A total makeover makes this place a must to visit. They brew on premises. There are several micro brew selections daily. You can even get a jug (growler) to go. Ranges from pub food to some interesting entries. Try one of the gourmet pizzas. Everything is perfect until you step out onto Union Street and hear the noise coming from a bar around the corner (Clinton's Ditch).

Service is okay. Food, okay. Prices, a bit dear.
But, the Van Dyke is located in the Historic Stockade, Schenectady. Beautiful and elegant inside, there is also outdoor seating. Casual and comfortable place to meet with friends for a drink.

Always a great lineup of jazz artists. Food, drink, and service are all fine, too. Don't miss a chance to visit this landmark when touring the historical Stockade area of Schenectady.
