What can I say. Great location, cozy studio, no-nonsense people. The bread service, we highly appreciated. Got good restaurant recommendations from Isabelle and Paul. Kai no Prato in Odeceixe and the seafood restaurant in Azenha do Mar. We would not have found the last one by ourselves. We had a few lovely relaxing days.

This is the place to be for nature, silence, relaxation, animals, eco, stars, running, walking, biking etc. etc. lovers. It is beautiful and has a wonderful atmosphere. It also has a gorgeous natural swimming pool and a river, a beach and the small village of Odeceixe nearby. The owners are very kind, relaxed, generous and willing to help. It is not the place for very picky, immaculate, luxurious persons though, but for us it is paradise!

When the biggest decision of your day is whether you should swim in the natural pool, lake or ocean you know you've found paradise!
For a start Montes is in the perfect location. It's up on a hill outside of Odeceixe with amazing views and a peaceful setting. But it's within walking distance of all you need- Odeceixe, the river, beach, beautiful walks. There is also a bigger town and the best fish restaurant in the south in just a short drive.
The rooms at Monte are all in old traditional Portuguese buildings and have been designed in a way that offer both comfort and character. The surrounds of the property are full of gardens and areas to relax or socialise.
The owners are two of the loveliest people you could meet. They are extremely generous and welcoming people- one of the nights we were there they organised a dinner for all of the guests complete with fresh pork from a local farmer. It was such a great night to be a part of.
I can not recommend Montes enough. If you want somewhere where you can be surrounded by beauty, close to everything while having your privacy, and to be treated like you are at home, then stay at Montes!

Location first: in the countryside, on a hill overlooking the Seixe Estuary. 5 minutes drive from Odeceixe (white village with several restaurants, a couple of them excellent). Another 5 minutes to the Odeceixe beach, where you can have your pick between the sea and the river. A 10 minutes walk, and you will not be far from the Rota Vicentina Trail, great for trekking along the cliffs and beaches of the coast.

The house: several units (some smaller and cosy, some larger and more sophisticated), most with independent kitchen if you are self-catering. Carefully arranged around the gentle slope of a big garden, so that you can have breakfast or candle-lit dinner out in the open and hardly see the other guests. Very comfortable, high mattresses. Reading/resting spots (sofas, hammock, gazebo...) to be discovered among the plants. There is a pond (somebody actually fished in it). We stayed in nº 4, the oldest room, housed in original building: not too big, but we enjoyed the veranda and liked the fact that the kitchen has a separate entrance. We also stayed in nº 5, very nice too, airy and full of light.

Lovely pool, not the usual turquoise and stone oblong, but rather like a natural pond, complete with water lilies, with a wide view on the valley below (sunsets!). Kind and knowledgeable owners will help guests to discover the area.
Idyllic place. And reasonably priced.

This hidden gem of an inn very successfully and uniquely blends traditional Portuguese countryside charm with old world elegance. Not only were the accomodations clean, comfortable and tastelfully appointed, but the cuisine was exquisite and the proprietors and staff were gracious, multilingual and great fun to be around. I will never forget our impromptu and motley gathering around outdoor-oven roasted pig, good wine, laughter and singing in celebration of Norwegian Independence Day -- a rather obscure event in the USA.
The inn sits on a hill overlooking a peaceful agricultural river valley and natural estuary, with a distant view of the quaint town of Odeceixe, and surrounded by colorful ornamental and edible plants. Nearby lies a beautiful beach cove girded by bluff-top hiking trails with dramatic vistas.
Varied types of accommodations are available, with or without kitchens, and outdoor recreational opportunities are abundant here. Don't miss this one !
