Thank you for your feedback. We have just spent millions on infrastructure and renovation, to include most soft goods in the corridors, guestrooms and public spaces. We have replaced many of our hvac units, and have a plan in place to replace the rest. Guestroom furniture will likely not be replaced until next year. With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees and an oppressive dew point of 70+, this past week was challenging for any property, let alone one that is more than 80 years old. I am sorry your stay was not great, but we thank you for giving us a try. We offer some great deals throughout the year - we hope you will re-consider us in the future.

The hotel has made progress, we stayed here last year and it was better this year, no musty smell, cleaner, in general, a better look and feel. We think the hotel is actually a great value. We were there last week TWThur paid less than $300 a night. Clay court tennis, beautiful Victoria pool, spa treatments (extra cost), golf (extra) are available on site. Not sure what reviewers are comparing this hotel to but in my mind it matches up with any place in Saratoga, it offers more than just great shuttle service to town and track. It is the centerpiece of a beautiful state park, great for walking, hiking, running, biking. Yes the facility is older, but I like the look and I see effort being made to improve the structure. The service is very good, people friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the hotel but the breakfast buffet looked great and the lunch place at Victoria pool is very good.

Thank you for choosing The Gideon Putnam, and for noticing our renovation efforts. A lot of 'blood, sweat and tears' (and dollars) have been invested in this beautiful hotel. And we happen to agree with you - The Gideon is a great value, if this is what you are looking for - history, grandeur, location within the Park, world-famous spa, mineral waters, pools, golf, tennis, miles of hiking/biking trails, performing arts, museums. I am very happy to hear you had a great stay. Thank you, and I trust we will see you again!

Well located with respect to Saratoga Race Track but so is every other hotel in Sarasota Springs. Needs a makeover. It's heyday was probably in the 40's, 50's and maybe 60's when the many springs were still open. Now it's more then a little "down at heel." Paint splatters, small bathrooms. Just a little seedy. Bad concierge service. Told us there was a two hour conducted tour of Sarasota Springs from the Visitor Center. There was but only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not on Wednesdays when we asked. Dinng room was small. Food okay, breakfast only. Frankly, the website looks far better then the product. Stay at the Hilton.

It is hard to hear we need a makeover, when just this year alone, we invested several million dollars into renovation and infrastructure. Is there more work to do? Yes. And we will keep working at it everyday. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I am also sorry that, due to incomplete information, you missed out on a guided mineral springs tour offered through the Park Administration office. Should you decide to stay with us again, we have park maps for self-guided tours. There are 12 active springs within the Park, and about 20 in total around Saratoga Springs. Thank you.

We decided to stay at The Gideon Putman as we would like to enjoy the grandeur of an Hotel from the 1930's and support this kind of an old style hotel. We read that the Hotel was undergoing a huge renovation, so we decided to stay at this nice location. The furniture in the rooms is acceptable and the rooms are not small. Some rooms have a nice view, other look on the roof covered with leaves and the dirt in the backyard hidden behind a white fence. The aircondition solution is very strange and different from room to room. Most of the rooms got an aircondtion that was placed into the window. Tape around the window and aircomditioner to fix it. The old indoor airconditioner still stands in the room. Many of the hotelrooms have connecting doors. Some doors have big gaps between the end of the door and the floor. That means that you could see the light from the neigboring room and of course you can easily hear was is happening in the next room. We asked three times to change the room. But they all look the same. An ongoing and huge renovation would be needed in this Hotel and I'm sure that is not to finance. The restaurant has no athmosphere. The breakfast itself and the service staff at breakfast time is good. Conclusion: Stay somewhere else and come to visit the surroundings and have a look inside the lobby etc. because the asked prices at this Hotel are not worth to consider staying here.

I am sorry. There are many challenges with a historic, 80+ year old property. But I assure you, we work tirelessly to maintain and upgrade this beautiful hotel. This year alone, we invested several million dollars into renovation and infrastructure. If you just stayed with us, during the Saratoga Race Meet, then you stayed during the busiest, most expensive period for Saratoga Springs. We offer some fabulous rates throughout the year, and hope you will reconsider staying with us. Thank you for choosing The Gideon Putnam.

Spent 1 night wih family at Gideon Putnam. Location is awesome, in the middle of the Saratoga park, surrounded by the wood and the fresh spring water. Hotel is dated 1935 and it needs some refurbishment to take it back to the old glory. Staff is lovely and very attentive. Rooms instead are average, with a clear cut sign of time that should be refreshed.

Care for a historic property like this is ongoing, and eternal. We are never without multiple, major projects. This year alone, we invested several million dollars into renovation and infrastructure. Is there more to do? Absolutely. And we will never stop working to improve this property, and your experience. Thank you for choosing The Gideon Putnam.
