“Dan is the perfect innkeeper !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2011

My wife & I had our first overnight in Saratoga Springs. Staying at the Batcheller Mansion Inn made the stay perfect. Our room was the George Batcheller on the 2nd floor. It was very large, super clean and decorated in the period. In the evening before dinner, we enjoyed a glass of wine on the private porch off the kitchen. Dan made sure we were well taken care of. Included with our stay was a hot breakfast and homemade chocolate chip cookies. The very helpful staff gave great recommendations for dinner and shopping. We enjoyed our visit so much that we made a reservation for next month to see things we missed, especially the races.

We have stayed in boutique hotels and B&B's around the world and always try to find the most unique places in the area where we're staying. The Batcheller Mansion is exceptional by ANY standard. You will not be disappointed. Well appointed, large rooms, excellent staff, FANTASTIC cooked breakfast (cooked to order), great location to walk into downtown Saratoga (5 min walk through Congress Park). There are cheaper places to stay, but we found this to be excellent value for money. Don't pass up the opportunity to stay in a piece of Saratogan history. Ask for Dan's stuffed french toast!!

The Batcheller Mansion Inn is in impeccable condition, just gorgeous. Warm staff. I highly recommend this B&B. We walked to dinner at Chianti, we recommend this restaurant. Kind of loud inside but very good Italian cuisine, friendly staff. The B&B offers a "Procrastinator's Special" (see their website)-- providing an extra great value.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Batcheller Mansion Inn. The house was wonderful and the location was perfect for walking to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I highly recommend it.

Let me start by saying I understand that they want the decor of this place to be old fashioned and I respect that. I had no problem with it at all my girlfriend actually loved it. However when I spend $333.33 on their top of the line room and then go to use the jacuzzi tub that has dirt and sediment coming out of the faucet well I'm not going to be too happy. After complaining about this to the inn keeper all I got was " oh they had been working on the sewers recently around here maybe that was the problem." So I spent $666 for two nights in a sub par accommodation with out even the offer of compensation in any way shape or form! I own several businesses and my first reaction to a customer complaint is to resolve it not make excuses! Never will I ever step foot in that place ever again!

We had an amazing overnight stay. Wonderful staff and great food. Slept well and enjoyed our very first bed and breakfast very much. Only complaint is that is was just for one night and it was a little bit pricey, but, certainly worth it!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located in the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs on historic Congress Park, this magnificent inn represents old world sophisticated elegance with a new world attitude. One of America's great Victorian houses, the Batcheller Mansion Inn simply cannot compare to other Saratoga Inns. Built in 1873, this American architectural masterpiece is an elegant mixture of small hotel and living history museum with the intimate feel of a bed and breakfast. Intricately carved European woodwork, hand carved marble fireplaces, family relics on loan from museums, original 1800's Batcheller family furnishings, and spellbinding grandeur make this one of a kind Saratoga inn and living history museum a stately retreat. Throughout the past 137 years, some of Saratoga's grandest parties were staged here, hosting U.S. Presidents, European Royalty, Dignitaries and Hollywood Celebrities. Designed by Nicols and Halcott of Albany, NY in 1873, this High Victorian Gothic mansion exhibits influences from the French Renaissance, Italian, and Egyptian styles. The red and gray slate mansard roof is bifurcated by dormers, each accented by a huge clamshell arch. The ivory stucco facade is studded by a myriad of ornate bays and its conical tower, resembling a minaret, is right out of Arabian nights. That bit of exotica was the result of original owner George S. Batcheller. This Saratoga inn was selected as Inn of the Month in the April 1999 issue of Country Inns. The mansion has also been the subject of many architectural studies, and has been featured in many books and film throughout its history. The Batcheller Mansion was specifically cited as an inspiration by Kevin Cummings, Development Manager for Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort. ... more   less
