“Congress Park Museum”
Reviewed April 16, 2012

For $5.00 you can take a step back in time and see this fun museum. It used to be an old casino. The third floor is apparently haunted and was just featured on Ghost hunters!

“Small, but interesting”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

A little history of Saratoga with some fun photographs. Not too large an exhibit. In and out in 1/2 hour.

“Excellent Snapshot of the History of the Area”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

I spent over 2 hours in this museum located in Congress Park just off Broadway. This is the former Canfield Casino, from the late 1800's. The first floor is divided in half. One half is used for weddings, receptions and fundraisers. The volunteer working that day showed me pictures. The second half was a snapshot history of Saratoga Springs from prehistory days up to the 20th century. There is a tiny gift shop. Entrance for me was $5.00 but I think there may be a reduced rate for seniors and children may be free. The second floor had an exhibit of clothing from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Beautiful clothing and the history behind the story. The other section was a small version of what the casino (underground casino for the wealthy of the east coast and beyone) would have looked like. It included some of the original furniture. There was a beautiful bar, playing tables, etc. Very interesting. The third floor had rooms set up like the original home of the Trask or Walworth family, I forget. The original home was demolished in 1955 and someone had the forethought to preserve the furniture and the story. Each room has a recording of a person telling the story of the family like you lived there. Very interesting. They also have a room that is devoted to ghosts. According to legend there is a ghost living there. There is a short videa and an exhibit and at one point a door creaks open suddenly and it freaked me out. It was a fun experience. The little kids who where in a group behind me were terrified. We had to reassure them that it was fake. Overall it was a lovely way to spend a few hours. You aren't allowed to take photos inside but I am including a couple from outside.

“The Perfect Snapshot”
Reviewed December 30, 2008

This museum is well worth seeing, especially if you are a history buff. Authentic in design and style, the building is a perfect setting for the current display of retrospective interior wall coverinigs.
